Bobby Bernard Alston, Sr., son of Willie Mae Coates Alston and the late Reginald Taylor Alston, began his journey through life on October 8, 1943, in Seaboard, (Northampton County), North Carolina. His earthly pilgrimage came to an end on Friday, September 1, 2017, at his home in Washington, DC.
At an early age, Bobby accepted Christ and united in Christian Fellowship with Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, Seaboard, North Carolina.
Bobby was educated in the Northampton County School System. He relocated to Washington, DC, where he gained employment with George Washington University. After several years of dedicated service, he retired as Maintenance Manager. He later became employed with the Washington Post, as a courier.
Early in life, Bobby was united in Holy Matrimony to Gwendolyn Griffin Alston. He later married Rosina Alston, whom preceded him in death.
In addition to his father, Bobby was also predeceased by: three siblings, Reginald Alston, Russell Alston and Carolyn Alston Tann Holloway and one nephew, Tommy Alston.
Left to cherish his memory are: one son, Bobby Alston, Jr. of Georgia; one daughter, LaSheba Cunningham (Thomas) of Hertford, North Carolina; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; his mother, Willie Mae Alston of Jackson, North Carolina; one brother, James Alston (Vaseta) of Valley Stream, New York; an aunt, Annie Lee Coates of Seaboard, North Carolina; two brothers-at-heart, Minister Linwood F. Clark and Jimmy Alston both of Seaboard, North Carolina; a special friend, Sylvia Alston; a host of other relatives and friends.
