James 'Pete' Earl Johnson

       James Earl Johnson, son of Ellen C. Johnson and the late James Edward Johnson, was born June 20, 1946, in Pendleton (Northampton County), North Carolina.

​       James accepted Christ and united in Christian Fellowship with St. John A.M.E. Church, Conway, North Carolina, where he remained a member, until his demise.​  He was known throughout the community as 'Pete' and was respected and loved by everyone.  He possessed a warm smile, a beautiful personality and quiet demeanor.

       On Thursday, August 10, 2017, 'Pete' peacefully departed this earthly life at Halifax Regional Medical Center, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

       Cherished memories will forever remain with:  his mother, Ellen C. Johnson of Jackson, North Carolina; his sister, Ellen M. Holmes (Arthur) of Conway, North Carolina;  eleven nieces,  Felecia Vaughan (Gregory) of Murfreesboro, North Carolina, Jalessa Vaughan, Ashley Vaughan and Tane' Vaughan all of Conway, North Carolina, Kimberly Horne of Maryland, Loronja, J'hari and Nakajah all of Lexington, North Carolina; four nephews, Donald Vaughan (Barbara) and Newvell Gaines both of Conway, North Carolina, Ronald Vaughan of Lexington, North Carolina and Shane Wooden of Maryland;  host of cousins, devoted family members and friends.
