            Deacon John Roosevelt Everett, Sr. was born March 3, 1934, in Northampton County, North Carolina, to the parentage of the late Nepoleon and Monester Long Everett.
     John was educated in the Northampton County School System. He attended Gumberry High School. He along with his brother, Marco, Elma Goode and some friends; later relocated to New York City in search of work. He gained employment with Martin Process Company, Fair Lawn, New Jersey. There, he met Blanche Mae Dobbins. This union was blessed with five children, in a span of eight years, beginning with their first born on March 28 to their last born on March 27, 1964. (LOL) After his retirement in 1996, he relocated back to his "home", Seaboard, North Carolina.
     John was a hard working man. He was loyal to his job; working after hours, selling clothes to make an extra dollar. He also operated a candy store, with his cousin, Clemon, for a while. John's favorite past times, included: fishing, hunting, bowling, attending to his garden and watching Westerns, on television. He was fond of his beloved dog, King.
     Early in life, John accepted Christ, was baptized and he united in Christian Fellowship with Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Margarettsville, North Carolina. Even while living in New York, he always came "home" for the church's Annual Homecoming Celebration. After returning to North Carolina, John continued to serve his church faithfully and in 2004, he was ordained as Deacon.
     On Saturday, May 6, 2017, John peacefully answered the Master's call from earthly labor unto eternal rest. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by: his wife, Blanche (2005); five brothers, Elmore (1930), Ralph (1994), James (2001), Wilson (2003) and Aggest (2012) and a granddaughter, Asia Paige (2016).
     Left to rejoice in his memory and carry on his legacy: three daughters, Michelle Canada, Sharon Massey and Lisa Everett; two sons, John Everett, Jr. and Martin (Evangeline) Everett; twelve grandchildren, Corey,Tinique, Shelina, Monique, Tre Anna, Tiffany, Natasha, Tamisha, Chanel, Ashley, Tevin, Justin and John III;  eighteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Marco Everett;one sister, Eunice Johnson; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Everett and Bertha Everett; his beloved companion, Catherine Patrus; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
