Praise be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all Comfort, who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God.

~ II Corinthians 1: 3 - 4

Joseph Lee Perry, began his journey through life on July 15, 1955.  'Joe Joe'', as he was affectionately called, was born to the parentage of the late Lee Phillips and Irene Perry, in Rich Square, (Northampton County), North Carolina.
'Joe Joe' was educated in the Northampton County  School System; graduating from W.S. Creecy High School, Class of 1973.  Immediately after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army; proudly serving his country for 20 years.  He retired in 1993, ranked as a Staff Sergeant.
'Joe Joe' united in Christian Fellowship with  First Baptist Church, Rich Square and remained a faithful member.  To assure his salvation, he reaffirmed his faith in Christ, through repentance, before his passing.
"Joe Joe' held various jobs and was dedicated to them all, but his passion was serving the students at Chowan University.
Peacefully on Sunday, March 26, 2017, "Joe Joe' answered the Master's call from earthly labor unto eternal rest, while at Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Medical Center, Richmond, Virginia.  In addition to his parents, 'Joe Joe' was also preceded in death by two sisters, Irene and  Linda.
Cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of:  his wife, Vivian Michelle of the home; one daughter, Sheila Denise of Greensboro, North Carolina; two sons, Joseph, Jr., (Tamico) of Biloxi, Mississippi and Kevin of Greensboro, North Carolina: three step-children, Marcus of Aulander, North Carolina, Monique of Raleigh, North Carolina and Shestelle of Greensboro, North Carolina; thirteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Charles (Parralee) of Petersburg, Virginia, Charles and David both of Rich Square, North Carolina; seven sisters, Beatrice, Alease, Gladys, Darlis and Brenda, all of Rich Square, North Carolina, Doris (James) of Seaboard, North Carolina and Marion of New Jersey; two God-sisters, Kim and Ursula Scott; a very special cousin, Audrey Seay of White Plains, New York; a host of other relatives and friends.
