The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down
in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul:
he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
~ Psalm 23 1 - 3
Marshall Clark Lashley, son of the late Joseph and Sadie Clark Lashley, began his journey through life on March 16, 1945, in Southampton County, Virginia.
'MC', as he was fondly called, was educated in the Southampton County Public School System. At an early age, he united in Christian Fellowship with Rising Star Baptist Church, Branchville, Virginia. For 39 1/2 years, he was employed with Union Camp.
'MC' was truly devoted to his family. He was a Master gardener, fisherman, hunter and carpenter. He was also an active member of the Hall Town Hunt Club, for several decades.
In addition to loving life and living life to the fullest, 'MC' loved the Washington Redskins. You could NOT out talk him about the "Skins". He enjoyed watching The Lone Ranger and Gunsmoke. Fester was his favorite character. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He called them his shinning stars.
For 52 years, "MC' was married to Nannie Vick Lashley. This union was blessed with four children, whom affectionately referred to him as "My Dad".
With the assurance that everything was going to be alright, our dear loved one, peacefully answered God's call from earthly labor unto eternal on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. In addition to his parents, 'MC' was also preceded in death by: two grandchildren, Denisha Stephens and Christian Bridges; two sisters, Mary Owens and Lillian Rawlings and one brother, Samuel 'Duke' Lashley.
Left not to mourn his passing, but to reflect upon and carry on his legacy: his wife, Nannie Vick Lashley; four children, Maurice Lashley (Darla), Marvin Lashley (Dana), Lillian Lashley-Anthony and Travoris Lashley; a grandson, he reared just as his own, Trey Lashley; a son-at-heart, Steve Peterson; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Alberta Ford, Rosa Rawlings and Catherine Ray; two brothers, Aubrey Lashley (Jessie) and James Lashley (Jean); a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
