Nefther 'Tiny' Mae (Small) Faison

 When I come to the end of the road, And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom filled room , Why cry for a soul set free?

       Nefther Small Faison, daughter of the late Russell 'Toot' and Katie Williams Small, began her journey through life on May 14, 1934, in Northampton  County, North Carolina.  
        'Tiny', as she was  affectionately called, accepted Christ, at an early age, was baptized and joined Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, Seaboard, North Carolina.  She was educated in the Northampton County School System, where she met the LOVE of her life, Wilbert 'Worrell' Faison.  They were married on June 12, 1951.  This union was blessed with five children.  They relocated to Brooklyn, New York, where they lived and made a life for their family.   She was employed  with Down State Medical Center, until her retirement.
       While in Brooklyn, 'Tiny' united in Christian Fellowship with  First Baptist Church, where she served faithfully in various  capacities.  After returning to her childhood home, she reunited  with Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, where she was active in the Usher's Ministry and Missionary Ministry.  She was also an member of the Seaboard Civic Club.
       'Tiny' was known for her impeccable STYLE of dress  and you best believe  that her shoes and purse, were always a match!  She thoroughly enjoyed shopping.  If you were ever with her in any retail establishment, you had better plan to spend the entire day...Lady loved to shop!  She was an excellent cook and had many recipes for sweet potato pie, cornbread dressing and pineapple upside down cake;  just to name a few. Anyone who knew 'Tiny' would tell you that she always kept it straight with you (100, as the kids will say). 
       On Wednesday, May 3, 2017,  our dear loved one, peacefully slipped into eternal slumber, while in the comfort of her home.
       In addition to her parents, 'Tiny' was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wilbert, Sr. and her  son, Larry.               
       Precious memories shall forever be cherished in the hearts of:   her devoted children, Peggie (Rickey) McCray of Woodstock, Georgia, Wilbert Faison, Jr. of Portland, Oregon, Joyce Faison of Jersey City, New Jersey and Debra (Jimmy) Sullivan of Monticello, New York; six wonderful grandchildren, Tarif Faison, Fatimah McCray-Seawell, Stephanie Troy, Natasha Opont, Richarde McCray and Aristede Faison; six adorable  great-grandchildren, Baigen and Sekov Seawell, Tristan, Trenton and Victoria Troy and London McCray; her loving and devoted sister, Agnes (Chester) Barnes of Seaboard, North Carolina, whom she loved unconditionally and affectionately referred to as 'Sissy'; her only niece and nephew, Charisse Ferraro of Atlanta, Georgia and Stacy Barnes of New York; her extended family and devoted care givers, Esther 'Punkin' Thomas and Gloria 'Piggy' Benjamin both of Seaboard, North Carolina; a host of relatives and friends.   
      Our family truly has a model of what "family love" looks like in the example of our Dear Auntie Agnes.  God called our Matriach home and we know we have one more angel watching over us.  You are free to fly away.  Thank God for all the wisdom and nuggets you passed to us and everyone whose lives you touched.
