A new life was created and birthed on June 8, 1953, to the parentage of the late Andrew and Ola Mae Stephenson Barber, in Northampton County, North Carolina.
Otelia Edwards, fondly known as 'Teeter Biscuit', was educated in the Northampton County School System.  Early in life, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a  member of the Boone's Chapel Baptist Church, Jackson, North Carolina.  She later united in Christian Fellowship with Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Margarettsville, North Carolina, where she was a faithful member, until her health began to decline.
Otelia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved and cared for her family, as well as others. She was a very caring and passionate person, who was willing to help anyone she could. She enjoyed cooking and feeding everyone who came to her home.  Cooking and cleaning were her hobbies. During her prime, she worked hard in the fields; chopping and picking cotton.
On Friday, September 22, 2017, while at Northampton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Jackson, North Carolina;  Otelia gained her wings and took flight to be at rest.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by:  her husband, Lawrence Randolph Edwards, Sr.; one sister, Vergie Artis and one brother, Mack Barber.
Precious memories  -  oh how they will forever be cherished in the hearts of:  four children, Tyrone Barber (Dianne) of Yonkers, New York, Jeffrey Barber of Hampton, Virginia, Antonya Hockaday (Dominic) of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina and Eric Barber (Lynn) of Woodland, North Carolina; eleven step-children; three children-at-heart, Lawrence R.  Edwards, Jr., Johnnie Edwards and David Edwards; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; fourteen sisters and brothers, Dorothy Daniels (Herman), Rose Barber, Gladys Barber Jones (Jimmie) and Vivian Barber all of Garysburg, North Carolina, Glenda Barber Deloatch of Seaboard, North Carolina, Shirley White and Larry 'Bo-Bo' Barber (Nell) both of Jackson, North Carolina, Austin 'Bill' Barber (Teresa) of Currie, North Carolina, Leroy Barber of Seaboard, North Carolina, Freeman Barber and Martha Williams both of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Russell 'Dean-Bo' Barber (Crystal) of Roxobel, North Carolina, Floyd Junior Barber (Patricia) of Nashville, North Carolina and Melvin Barber (Elsie) of Margarettsville, North Carolina; a brother-in-law, Russell Smith of Hampton, Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
