I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
~  II Timothy 4:7 (NIT)

Shirley Temple Harris Edwards daughter of Roxie Mae and Richard White, biological daughter of Booker T. Parham, was born August 9, 1935, in Northampton County, North Carolina.
Shirley accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, until her passing.  She was a member of the Senior Choir, and an inactive member of Morning Star Chapter #595, OES, Jackson, North Carolina.
At the young age of sixteen, Shirley married the love of her life, Saint Paul Edwards, Sr. They were married for fifty-three years. To show their love for each other, they became the proud parents of fourteen beautiful children.
Shirley was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin.  She helped her husband provide for the family by working hard on the farm and finally working as a cafeteria worker; for the Northampton County Public School System, for 24 years.  Shirley had a passion for children and reading. After retiring, she continued working with children by reading to them at Coates Elementary School, through the Senior Education Corps Reading Program; Give Me Your Hand.  Her love for children was shown through the many children she  had in and out of her home over the years.  Her cooking skills have been sampled by, not only her children, but also by the many who have visited over the years.  As some of her older children left, she and her husband became foster parents to many, two of them being, John T. Edwards and Alonzo Underdue.
On Friday, October 27, 2017, Shirley departed from her earthly home, while at her residence in Margarettsville, North Carolina.   Her seeds are well sown, her service on earth is now complete and she now experiences the victory and triumph of life.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Saint Paul; Shirley was  preceded in death by:  two sons, Larry and Pernell; one daughter, Mary Ellen; one granddaughter, Shasta; a brother, Joseph Parham and a sister, Doris Parham.
