Willis McCoy Britt, 80, of Jackson, North Carolina, peacefully departed this earthly life on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Rich Square Manor, Rich Square, North Carolina.

Willis began his earthly pilgrimage on May 24, 1937, in Northampton County, North Carolina.  He was born to the parentage of the late George and Gracie Lee Britt.

Willis was first employed with Mary Jane Bakery, in Norfolk, Virginia.  He relocated to Jackson, North Carolina,  where he began his career with Georgia Pacific; retiring after 25 years of faithful service.  Upon retirement, Willis worked with the Town of Jackson.  He would often say, "I work because I want to, not because I have too."

In his spare time, Willis was an avid outdoors man, who loved hunting and caring for his dogs.  He was a member of two local hunting clubs, and remained active until his health declined.  Willis was well known for his ability to breed and train some of the best hunting dogs in Northampton County.  Willis was a man who believed in treating people "right" and was always willing to lend a helping hand.  He was very family oriented.  He believed a man should provide for his family and he demonstrated that belief throughout his entire life.

Treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of:  his wife, Marie Anderson Britt of the home;  seven children, Darlene Hinton of Norfolk, Virginia, Sandy Britt of Jackson, North Carolina, Lisa Brown (Corey) of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Gracie Britt of Fort Washington, Maryland, Evelyn Grant of Newport News, Virginia,  Michael Moses of Lawrenceville, Virginia and  Jerry Anderson of Jackson, North Carolina; a daughter-at-heart, Evelyn Mitchum of Weldon, North Carolina; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one sister, Maxine Darden of Williamsburg, Virginia;  his mother-in-law, Lizzie Boyd of Norfolk, Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Joyner (Joe Mack) of Jackson, North Carolina and Betty Bacchus of Florida; two brothers-in-law, David Boyd of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Charles Boyd of Jersey City, New Jersey; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
