Ellen C. (Powell) 'C-Bird' Johnson

Ellen C.  Powell, Johnson, daughter of the late Bishop and Minnie Powell, was born Wednesday, June 6, 1923, in Northampton County, North Carolina.

'C-Bird', as she was fondly called, was educated in the Northampton County School System.  Early in life, she accepted Christ, was baptized and she united in Christian Fellowship with St. John A.M.E. Church, Conway, North Carolina, where she remained a member until her demise.  'C-Bird' was well-known, highly respected and loved by everyone.  She possessed a warm smile, a beautiful personality and she cared for many people throughout the community.

On Friday, June 15, 2018, while at Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie, North Carolina; 'C-Bird', with the assurance that EVERYTHING was going to be alright, peacefully cross the great divide. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by:  her husband, one daughter, two sons, two sisters, two brothers, two sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law and three nephews.

Precious memories will forever be cherished in the hearts of:   her daughter, Ellen Marie Holmes of Conway, North Carolina; three grandsons; three granddaughter; eleven great-grandchildren; five great, great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
