Nell Johnson Barber, began her journey through life in Northampton County, North Carolina. She was born September 5, 1960 to the parentage of the late William Alfred Johnson Anita Parker Johnson.
Nell was educated in the Northampton County School System. She also worked in the school system, as a bus driver, twenty years and as custodian.
Nell was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a very gifted cook. Her hobbies included, fishing and planting flowers. She loved her family. Her two grandchildren bought her much joy. Nell knew and loved the Lord. She united in Christian Fellowship with Boones Chapel Baptist Church, Jackson, North Carolina.
God, in his infinite wisdom, whispered, "You've fought a good fight, you've kept the faith, now come unto me and rest" and Nell peacefully slipped into eternal slumber on Sunday, February 25, 2018, while at UNC-Hospital, Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Precious memories, Oh how they will forever linger in the hearts of: her husband, Larry 'Bo-Bo' Barber of the home; her children, Shanita Hyde (Bryan) of Raleigh, North Carolina and Derrick Barber of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; a son-at-heart, Demetrick Banks of Emporia, Virginia; two grandchildren, Derrion Barber and Embree Hyde; two sisters, Marie Parker of Gaston, North Carolina and Eunice Wilson (Porter) of Jacksonville, Florida; her in-laws, Shirley White of Jackson, North Carolina, Glenda Deloatch of Seaboard, North Carolina, Dorothy Daniels (Herman), Rose Barber, Gladys Jones (Jimmie) and Vivian Barber all of Garysburg, North Carolina, Martha Williams of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Russell 'Dean Bo' Barber (Crystal) of Roxobel, North Carolina, Austin 'Bill' Barber (Teresa) of Currie, North Carolina, Melvin Barber (Elsie) of Margarettsville, North Carolina and Floyd Barber (Patricia) of Nashville, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
