Thelma Virginia Powell Weaver, began her earthly pilgrimage, on Friday, January 13, 1956. She was born in Jackson (Northampton County), North Carolina to the parentage of the late Wilkin Powell, Sr. and Ernestine Grant Powell.
'Tootie', as she was affectionately called by her loving family and close friends, was educated in the Northampton County Public School System. In 1981, she enrolled in Roanoke Chowan Technical College; completing her course studies of instruction in Job Orientation & Motivation.
'Tootie' accepted Christ, was baptized and she united in Christian Fellowship with the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Jackson, North Carolina. Although she had some challenges and endured some trials; she still knew the God of her salvation. "Sometimes in life, we don't understand why certain things have to be, but God in His infinite wisdom has planned beyond our eyes to see."
After the passing of her beloved mother, 'Tootie' stepped up and became a mother-figure; caring for her younger siblings. She loved her family. She also enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends. 'Tootie' was a very clean and neat individual. If you ever visited her home, NOTHING seemed out of place! In addition to cleaning and organizing her home; her hobbies included: listening to music, dancing, watching television and working in the yard.
On Saturday, May 26, 2018, our dear loved one departed this earthly life at UNC Hospital, Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
