The Life Story of Alfred S. Thomas, Jr.

Your life was a blessing, Your memory a treasure

You’re loved beyond words, And missed beyond measure...

Alfred S. Thomas Jr. began his life’s journey on April 3, 1939 in Washington, D.C.  He was born to the late Mother Missionary Helen and Alfred Thomas Sr. of Fairmont Heights, Maryland.

He was educated in Prince George’s County, Maryland Public Schools and pursued a degree in Theological Studies.  He worked for the Prince George’s County Board of Education. Later, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, from which he retired.

He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior and became a member of the Saved Today Worship Center of Severn, North Carolina, where he was ordained as Deacon.   He was an avid Washington Redskins’ Football Team fan.  He loved his family, listening to gospel music and working on vehicles. He maintained his trademark sense of humor until his illness progressed.

In 1963, Alfred met the love of his life, Alicia. They were joined in Holy Matrimony on December 2, 1967.

His life’s journey ended on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, North Carolina. In addition to his parents, Alfred was preceded in death by: one brother, Charles Thomas and three sisters, Reverend Barbara Brown, Sara Ferguson and Sheena Lindsey.
