Alvin 'Stunna' Norwood, Jr. Obituary

Remembering Alvin...

On Friday, August 23, 1991, life was bestowed upon Alvin Norwood, Jr.; as he was born to the parentage of Alvin Norwood, Sr. and Rosa Shoulders Champion, in Halifax County, North Carolina.

Alvin was educated in the Northampton County Schools and he obtained his general education development. At an early age, he dedicated his life to Christ. As a loving father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, Alvin always had a word of encouragement to share. He was also known for his loving and caring personality.

“The clock of life is wound but once, And no one has the power, To tell just where the hands will stop, At late or early hour. To lose one’s wealth is sad indeed, To lose one’s health is more, To lose one’s soul is such a loss, As no one can restore. The present only is our own, LIVE, LOVE and TOIL with a will, Place no faith in tomorrow, For the clock may then be still.” On Wednesday, April 14, 2021; while in Durham, North Carolina, Alvin transitioned from time to eternity. He now rest in the safe arms of our Heavenly Father alongside all those relatives who have gone on before him, including: his grandparents, Cherry Long Shoulders, Turner Depriest Shoulders, Sr.; great-grandparents, Lokie and Ella Smith Long; aunt, Mary Shoulders Garris; uncles, Tuner D. Shoulders, Jr., Melvin Shoulders and James Elmo Garris and nephew, Ra’Keem Tyvon Norwood.

Sad is the parting, no one can tell: So sudden on earth the sorrow fell, The blow was hard, the shock severe; To part with one we love so dear. Only those who have lost can tell, The pain of parting without farewell. Dearer still, as days depart; Our loved one’s memory will forever live within the hearts of : his parents, Alvin Norwood, Sr. of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina and Rosa Champion of Rich Square, North Carolina; one son, Alvin Norwood, III; two daughters, Venix Veronica Norwood and Za’Prayria Alvyonia Blackwell; his companion, Jelisha Mason of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; one brother, Johnny Shoulders (Tiffany) of Jackson, North Carolina; one sister, Sherika Norwood of Goldsboro, North Carolina; aunts, Diane Shoulders Odom of Boykins, Virginia, Mable Shoulders of Margarettsville, North Carolina, Nancy Shoulders of Wilson, North Carolina, Helen Anderson of Maryland, Quanda Lawrence, Loretta Brayton and Elvena Brayton all of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; uncles, James Shoulders of Emporia, Virginia, Ricky Norwood, Leon Brayton both of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; niece and nephews, Imani Bell, RaeQwon Norwood, Jalen Thomas and Jaques Hendricks; a host of cousins, relatives and friends, who will miss him dearly.
