ANGELA PATRICE ROOKS of New Kent, Virginia, departed this life surrounded by the love of family and friends. Her life was marked by dedicated service, unwavering commitment, and a deep love for those she cherished. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, and raised in Southampton County, Virginia, Angela joined Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Margarettsville, North Carolina, at an early age. She attended Southampton County Public Schools and graduated from Southampton High School in Courtland, Virginia, as a member of the Class of 1982. She furthered her education at Virginia State University.
Angela proudly served her country as a member of the National Guard, exemplifying honor, courage, and dedication. Following her military service, she began a distinguished career with the United States Postal Service, where she faithfully served for more than 30 years. Her commitment to excellence earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues, and she was known for her lively spirit and warm presence.
Angela was preceded in death by her beloved father, Deacon Franklin D. Rooks; her mother, Ethel Harris Rooks; and her brother, William L. Harris.
She leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Raymond D. Rooks (Nellie Rooks) of Chesterfield, Virginia; her nephew, Kayin D. Rooks of Chesterfield, Virginia; her nieces, Tonya DeDera (David DeDera) of Las Vegas, Nevada, and LaTasha Harris of Baltimore, Maryland; her aunts, Daisy Odom of Seaboard, North Carolina, and Phyllis McCleod of Raleigh, North Carolina; her devoted friend, Dwight Ramsey; numerous great -nieces and great -nephews; numerous great -great -nieces and great -great -nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Angela ’s memory will be forever treasured by her family, friends, classmates, fellow veterans, and the many lives she touched throughout her journey. Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will remain in the hearts of those who loved her. We celebrate a life well lived and give thanks for the many blessings Angela brought to the world.
