I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
-II Timothy 4: 7-8
Annie Celeste Collins Boone, daughter of the late Willie Newsome Collins and Millie Sue Worrell Porch, began her journey through life on Thursday, April 22, 1943 in Northampton County, North Carolina. While growing up in this rural community, Annie attended Jonesboro School, Margarettsville, North Carolina. After which, she entered the workforce, beginning as a Cafeteria Worker at Gumberry High School and retiring from Northampton County High School-West.
Being reared in a Christian home, Annie accepted Jesus Christ, early in life, as her personal savior and became a member of the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church Margarettsville, North Carolina. It was there that her spiritual gifts were developed and love for God deepened. She was a faithful member of the church, serving in several capacities, as long as her health permitted. Annie found great joy in cooking for her family and friends alike; which led her to serve faithfully on the Culinary Committee of Mount Zion. Many palates have been tempted by her tasty dishes, and how can we forget her homemade rolls?
As life progressed, Annie met and ultimately united in Holy Matrimony with the love of her life, William Arthur ‘Pear’ Boone, Sr. on March 22, 1968. She was a very strong minded woman, kind and a giving woman of faith. Annie loved her family and would do anything she could for them. Children brought her great joy. Nothing made Annie more happy than having children around her. She not only loved her children and grandchildren, but all children and would take them in and nurture them just as her own. When Annie wasn’t cooking or spoiling the babies, she could often be found at her favorite fishin’ hole.
When peace like a river, attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea billows roll, Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say, It is well, it is well with my soul.” On Tuesday, August 31, 2021, while in the serenity of her home, Annie recalled the refrain “It is well, it is well with my soul” and crossed the great divide, exchanging life for eternal rest. Her seeds are well-sown; her service on earth is complete, and she now experiences the victory and triumph of eternal life. She is now reunited with those who have preceded her in death: her parents, beloved husband, ‘Pear’; two sons, Floyd Boone and Willie K. Boone, Sr.
May the winds of heaven blow softly and whisper in your ear, how much we love and miss you and wish that you were here. We who remain that continue to whisper to heaven words of love and remembrance as we pass her to God’s keeping and care are: two sons, Willie A. Boone, Jr. of Emporia, Virginia and Shelton L.
