“Jesus said to her: I am the resurrection and the life.
The one who exercises faith in me even though he dies will come to life.”
~ John 11:25
Mrs. Audie Virginia Roberts Epps Boone, a beloved mother, grandmother, and devoted servant of Jehovah, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home at the remarkable age of 101. Born on June 12th, 1924, in Northampton County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Ransome Roberts and Rosanne Terry Roberts. Throughout her life, Ms. Boone exemplified strength, kindness, and unwavering faith.
She was first united in marriage to the late John Daniel Epps in Dillon, South Carolina, and later married the late Raymond Boone of Garysburg, North Carolina. Mrs. Boone lived a life filled with love and purpose, cherishing each day spent with family and friends. She worked for many years at Guardian Care Nursing Home in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, and later retired from the Seaboard Sewing Factory in Seaboard, North Carolina. Her strong work ethic and compassion for others left a lasting impact on those she served.
On March 11th, 1973, Mrs. Boone dedicated her life to Jehovah God as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, a commitment that defined her life for over five decades. She took great joy in sharing her faith through field ministry, speaking to friends, family, and even strangers about Jehovah and His Kingdom. Attending meetings at the Kingdom Hall brought her deep spiritual fulfillment and gave her the opportunity to develop close relationships that she cherished dearly throughout her life.
Family was at the heart of Mrs. Boone’s joy. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, often joining them on vacations and enjoying simple moments of laughter and conversation. Every Friday, she looked forward to a visit from her niece, who would connect her via FaceTime with other nieces and nephews, allowing her to remain close and engaged with those she loved. She also found great pleasure in the beauty of her flower bed, lovingly maintained by a longtime family friend.
She was preceded in death by her children: Larry Epps, Shirley Gray, and Alvesta Epps and her siblings: Mary Pitchford, James Roberts, Willmon Roberts, and Collie Roberts. Mrs. Boone is survived by her children, John Epps (Sandra) and Earnestine Moody (Henry), both of Pleasant Hill, North Carolina, and Doris Dew of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, as well as her daughter-in-law, Annie Epps of Pleasant Hill, North Carolina. Her surviving sibling is Charles Roberts (Liz) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, along with her sister-in-law Mary Roberts of Garysburg, North Carolina.
Her legacy lives on through her many grandchildren: Michelle B. Davis of the home; Tawanda Brooks (Shawn) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; James Gray Jr. (Saleemah) of Newport News, Virginia; Dwayne Gray Sr. (Jennifer) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Angelo Epps (Shawanda) of Seaboard, North Carolina; Jennifer Ore (Marvin) of Winterville, North Carolina; John D. Epps of Maryland; Tammy Crews (Michael) of New Jersey; Al Tyrone Epps of Georgia; Benighta McFadden (Arthur) of Pleasant Hill, North Carolina; Regina Howard (Willie) of Gainesville, Florida; Annette Thomas of Raleigh, North Carolina; and Deborah Thurman (Francis) of Linden, New Jersey. In addition, she is remembered with love by a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and caregivers, all of whom shared in the joy of knowing her.
Mrs. Audie Boone lived a life of quiet dignity, deep faith, and unconditional love. Her memory will be held dear in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
