Barbara Ann (Hardy) Porch, the middle daughter of the late Deacon Lonza C. Hardy, Sr. and the late Morlene (Harding) Hardy was born on May 1, 1952 in Northampton County, North Carolina. She transitioned peacefully at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, following a lengthy illness.
Barbara was educated at Gumberry High School in Gumberry, North Carolina and also Halifax Community College in Weldon, North Carolina. At an early age, she joined the Faithful Band Missionary Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill, North Carolina., where she was a faithful member until her death.
Later in life, Barbara married Roger Anthony Porch and their union was blessed with two children, Barbara Jean Porch and Michael Anthony Porch.
Barbara worked in the service industry for many years; including as a cook at Frazier’s Restaurant in Weldon, North Carolina, and as a laundromat attendant at Grant Park Laundry in Weldon, North Carolina and Bolling Road Laundry in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina . Due to her declining health issues, she retired from work, but she remained a respected individual in her community.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Lonza and Morlene Hardy; her paternal grandparents, James Solomon and Clara Hardy; her maternal grandparents, Robert and Rebecca Harding and her ex-husband, Roger Anthony Porch.
Those left behind to cherish Barbara’s memories are: two children, Barbara Jean Porch of Raleigh, North Carolina and Michael Anthony Porch of Knightdale, North Carolina; two sisters, Gloria Jean Hardy of Bronx, New York and Gwendolyn A. Manning of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; two brothers, Lonza Hardy Jr. of Newport News, Virginia and James Hardy of Greenville, North Carolina; two nieces, Samantha Manning of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina and Monique Pollard of Winterville, North Carolina; two nephews, Langford Manning Jr. of Cary, North Carolina and Rashad Hardy of Bronx, New York; three great-nephews, Dominic and Jordan McCain of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina and Jailen Dawson of Winterville, North Carolina; one aunt, Ethel Darden of Bronx, New York; a host of close cousins, including, Bernard Terry of Garysburg, North Carolina, who ran errands for Barbara; three very special longtime friends, Evelyn Mitchum of Weldon, North Carolina, Linda Clemonts of Garysburg, North Carolina and Lucille Allen of Halifax, North Carolina; other relatives and friends.
Relatives and Friends are encouraged to visit Mrs. Porch's tribute wall to share memories, extend condolences and to order floral tributes, as sentiments to the family.
