Benjamin ' Ben' Daye Obituary

Remembering Ben...

“What we once enjoyed and deeply loved, we can never lose,

for all that we love deeply, becomes a part of us.”

Benjamin McCoy Daye, was born on Saturday, July 16, 1955 in Conway (Northampton County), North Carolina to the union of the late Mahlon Joseph Daye, Sr. and Mary Everette Daye.

‘Ben’ as we affectionately know him, was educated in the Northampton County Public School System. He attended the Job Corp, where he received vocational training, and cultivating his natural skills. Ben was later inducted in the United States Army, proudly serving his country, before being honorably discharged.

Ben loved his family with all of his heart. Spending quality time with his family and friends brought him great joy. He loved people and never met a stranger. He enjoyed a good laugh and possessed many characteristics that could easily brighten up anyone’s day.

Ben’s hobbies, included helping people. While living in Kinston, North Carolina, he could be found at any time, cutting the neighbors lawn and/or trimming their hedges. Ben was an excellent landscaper. Whenever he came home to Conway to visit, he’d quickly unpacked his things, so he could get out in the yard to start doing something. Not only would he perform duties for his brother and sisters, but for other members of his family as well.

Ben was a hard worker. He was also a very talented handyman. He could practically fix anything. He loved music, as well. Very often, he would connect his bluetooth speaker to his phone, tune in to YouTube and blast his music.

Life is but a stopping place, A pause in what’s to be, A resting place along the road, to sweet eternity. We all have different journeys, Different paths along the way, We all were meant to learn some things, but never meant to stay… Our destination is a place, Far greater than we know. For some the journey is quicker, For some the journey’s slow. And when the journey finally ends, We’ll claim a great reward, And find an everlasting peace, Together with the Lord. On Sunday, August 1, 2021, as the night sky began to fall, our dear loved one peacefully transitioned from earthly life unto eternal rest, while at Vidant Inpatient Hospice, Greenville, North Carolina.

Your life was full of loving deeds, forever thoughtful of our special needs. Today and tomorrow, our whole life through, we will always love and cherish you. His loving spirit, caring heart and generosity will long be remembered by all those whose lives he touched: daughter, Angela D. Daye Peay (Steven) of Maryland; four grandchildren, Keyanna Wright, Brianna Daye, Angel Moore and Anntiana Moore; sisters and brothers, Mailon Daye, Jr. (Carolyn) and Mary ‘Susie’ Daye Hudgens (Dwight) both of Conway, North Carolina, Betty Warren (Ernest) of Norfolk, Virginia and Angela D.
