“Your life was a blessing, Your memory a treasure..
You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.”
Bettie Alee Carroll Jordan, was born on Thursday, August 28, 1924 to the union of the late Oscar and Mattie Carroll in Gumberry, North Carolina. Alee, as she was affectionately called by family and friends, was educated in the Northampton County School Systems. She later attended Halifax Community College to receive her certification to become a Healthcare provider.
Alee accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Roanoke Salem Baptist Church where she later worked on the Usher Board. Alee’s passions included sewing and gardening. Her love of flowers was evident, with the array of flowers surrounding her home.
On December 24, 1946, Alee married the late Johnnie Jordan. To this union, three children were born, Maury Jordan, Joyce Dunn and John Lee Jordan.
“What we have once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose,
for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us.”
On Monday, December 5, 2022, God picked a beautiful flower to add to his heavenly bouquet. Alee was escorted to the gates of heaven to join her family that preceded her in death: her parents, her beloved husband, her son, John Lee Jordan and siblings, Gladys Carroll Cumbo, John Lee Carroll, Otis Carroll, Sam Mitchell, Herman Buffaloe and Pernell Alston.
“Even though our time in this life is temporary,
if we live well enough, our legacy will last forever.”
Alee leaves to cherish her memory: two children, Maury Jordan (Doris) of LaGrange, North Carolina and Joyce Dunn (Henry) of McLeansville, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Barian Jordan, Keisha Joyner-Powell, Tamara Deloatch Warren (Randy), Jermaine Jordan (Melonie), Nicole Jordan and Rodney Jordan (Kidada); thirteen great-grandchildren, Isaiah Jordan, Jasmine Joyner, Danisha Jordan, Jamaal Brown, Shaniya Jordan, Shavinanese Hardy, Kayla Jordan, Kyle Jordan, Bria Jordan, Amare Jordan, Daeyaun Jordan, Mya Jordan and Angel Joyner; six great, great-grandchildren, Nyla Thomas, Jay Capuano, Marley Jordan, Noah Jordan, Messiah Jordan and Amaru Thomas; a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
