“Remembering you is easy, we do it everyday
Missing you is a heartache, which will never go away.”
On Tuesday, January 6, 1953, in Northampton County, North Carolina, God blessed William ‘Shag’ Walden and Mary Lou Rogers with a baby boy, to love, nurture and adore. These loving parents went on to name their exuberant blessing, Bob Rogers.
Bob was educated in the Northampton County Public School System. Being reared in a Christian home, he knew and believed in God; the Father Almighty, who created heaven and earth. Bob also learned very early in life, the value of hard work. Throughout his life, he worked as a landscaper. Oftentimes you could find him riding or pushing a lawnmower.
Bob was one who loved people and never met a stranger! He enjoyed those precious moments and having a “good time” with family and friends. Bob was the life of EVERY party. Many still recall one of his favorite quotes, “I ain’t mad, and I ain’t scared.”
You never said I’m leaving, you never said goodbye. You were gone before we knew it and only God knows why. On Tuesday, April 6, 2021, our beloved Bob transitioned from this earthly life, while in the serenity of his home.
The timing was not ours… the situation not ideal. You fought a heavy fight, In time our hearts shall heal. You deserve to take your rest, This is something we all know, You are in a better place, But inside we don’t want you to go. Rest easy in the Lord, One day we’ll meet again, Forever you’ll be our hero. Your story shall never end and will forever live on in the hearts of: his daughter, Crystal Harris of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Zoey, Cameryn and Jayyn; siblings, Brenda Rogers of Seaboard, North Carolina, Judy Walden of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Wallace Rogers of New York, James Rogers of Pleasant Hill, North Carolina and Pernell Walden of Woodland, North Carolina; two great-aunts, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
... It broke our heart to lose you, but you didn’t go alone;
For part of us went with you, the day God took you home.
