Catherine Richardson Obituary

Catherine Jefferson Richardson, a beloved daughter of the late Charlie ‘Jack’ and Loretta Watford Jefferson, began her journey through life on Wednesday, April 17, 1940, in Northampton County, North Carolina.

Catherine was educated in the public schools of Northampton County. She soon grew and blossomed into a sweet and compassionate young lady. She believed in God; the Father Almighty, who created heaven and earth. Although her health presented many challenges through the years, Catherine possessed a strong faith in Christ and did not waiver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, always acknowledging his presence. Having God as an integral part of her upbringing, Catherine accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior early in life, and joined First Baptist Church of Severn, North Carolina. No stranger to hard work, Catherine worked for a number of years at Severn Peanut Company. Seeing the need to help provide for her family, she later became gainfully employed with Narricot Industries of Boykins, Virginia, where she later retired.

“Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences and penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.” (Maya Angelou) Early in life, Catherine found love when she met and married, the late James Richardson. This union was blessed with one daughter, Marcinda Richardson, who transitioned at the tender age of 12. As a beloved, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend, Catherine enjoyed spending time with her family. She embraced the natural beauty of the world and had a strong passion for helping anyone she could.

“After the clouds, the sunshine; after the winter, the spring; After the shower, the rainbow; for life is a changeable thing. After the night, the morning, bidding all darkness cease, After life’s cares and sorrows, the comfort and sweetness of peace.” While in the serenity of her home, Catherine quietly transitioned from this earthly life, into sweet eternal rest. In addition to her parents, husband and beloved daughter, she was also preceded in death by: one sister, Thelma Jefferson and three brothers, James Howard Jefferson, Roychester Jefferson and Jody Jefferson.

Your life was full of loving deeds, forever thoughtful of our special needs. Today and tomorrow, our whole life through, we will always love and cherish you. Her sweet spirit, caring heart and generosity will long be remembered by all those whose lives she touched - a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
