Christina Quimby Obituary

Christina Eileene Quimby, brightened our lives with her arrival on March 1, 1967 to the proud parents of Freddi & Ernest Quimby.  After a long, courageous battle with breast cancer, our beloved Christina was called home to eternal rest on Friday, June 8, 2018.
'Chris', who as a child was affectionately called 'Teena Beena', would cringe if you called her Christine.  She was born and reared in Brooklyn, New York, but spent most of her teens and early adulthood in Newark, New Jersey.  She was educated in the Newark Parochial and Public School Systems, where she played high school basket ball.  She graduated from Valisburg High School, Ivy Hill, New Jersey.  Christina was baptized at Sacred Heart Church, Newark New Jersey and later united in Christian Fellowship with Roanoke Salem Baptist Church, Garysburg, North Carolina.
After high school, Christina briefly worked in shipping and exports administration, but soon found her real passion was in helping others.  Always big of heart, and giving of herself, is what truly made 'Chris' unique.  In 1990, she discover the joys of motherhood, when she and her sweetheart, the late Kenny Tate, were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Asia Alon.
In 1996, the "Jersey Girl" decided to move south, settling in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she began pursuing her passion, while working as a Home Heath Care Professional.  She later move to Seaboard, North Carolina, to be closer to her parents.   In 2016, she proudly earned her Nursing degree from Halifax Community College, Weldon, North Carolina.
Immediately following her graduation, 'Chris' began working as a RN with Halifax Regional Medical Center, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.  She deeply cared for other and absolutely loved being a Nurse.  Even in the midst of her own personal health crisis, she continued to love, encourage and care for her patients, until she no longer could.
Christina had a soft spot for all her great nieces and nephews and was affectionately called "Babysitter/TT".  When she wasn't studying or working, she enjoyed pampering her mother and catching up on the TV soaps, with her father.  While her time with us may have been too short, those who were fortunate enough to be touched by her presence, truly understand what a blessing she was in our lives.  Christina will be greatly missed by all for being a constant source of smiles and laughter, which were typically the result of her hilarious antics.
Christina, who was proceeded in death by her father, William 'Poppi' Gallimore and aunt, Stacey Washington; leaves to cherish her precious memories:    her daughter, Asia Alon Quimby of Raleigh, North Carolina; her mother, Freddi Diana Gallimore; her siblings, Rory Abdul-Qawwee (Hamza) of Springfield, New Jersey, Pamela Hudson  of Montclair, New Jersey and Keith Quimby of Virginia Beach, Virginia; seven nieces and nephews, nine great-nieces and nephews; a host of aunts, uncles, friends, co-workers, nursing school classmates and Marley, her beloved, spoiled grand-puppy.
