Clarice Parker Hawkins, age 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 26th, 2025, in Murfreesboro, North Carolina.
Born in Northampton County, North Carolina, Clarice was the beloved wife of the late William Lee Hawkins, Sr., who preceded her in death in February 2023. She was also preceded in death by her parents, William Parker and Willa Mervin Branch Parker; her sister, Bernice Parker Howard; and her brother, Carl Parker.
Clarice is survived by her three devoted children: Willa Merita Hawkins Jerman (Ronald), Millicent Lavonne Hawkins Williams (Greg), and William Lee Hawkins, Jr. (Ivori). She also leaves behind eight cherished grandchildren—Allegra (Jerel), Darius, Alexis, Jonathan, Isha, Kenneth, Russell, and Alana—and one beloved great-granddaughter, Parker. She is further survived by a host of in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews who loved her dearly.
A lifelong member of Nebo Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, Clarice lived out her faith through a life of service, compassion, and generosity. She was a proud alumna of North Carolina Central University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. Clarice dedicated over 30 years to the field of education, inspiring countless students during her tenure at W.S. Creecy High School and Northampton High School-East.
In retirement, she found joy and fulfillment in farming and gardening, pursuits that reflected her deep connection to the land and her enduring commitment to hard work. Clarice will be fondly remembered for her strength, her deep love for her family and community, her dedication to her students, and her unshakable faith.
Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the lessons she shared. She will be deeply missed.
