Constance McNeal-Grant, was born on Thursday, July 24, 1952 to the parentage of the late Roullette and Vivian McNeal in Washington, District of Columbia. ‘Buttons’, as she was affectionately called by family and some friends, was educated in the Prince George County and District of Columbia Public School Systems.
After receiving her formal education, she began a career in the healthcare field and would become gainfully employed at Sleepy Hollow Nursing Home. As life progressed, she was hired to work at the National Institutes of Health. Constance sought the need to relocate to Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, where she worked for Halifax Regional Hospital, until her retirement in 2008.
Constance loved working in the healthcare field, but she also had love for her family, friends and her pets. One of her favorite pastimes was finding and attending a good yard sale.
“ After the clouds, the sunshine; after the winter, the spring; After the shower, the rainbow; for life is a changeable thing. After the night, the morning, bidding all darkness cease, After life’s cares and sorrows, the comfort and sweetness of peace.” On Tuesday, December 28, 2021, God plucked a beautiful flower to add to his heavenly bouquet. Constance was escorted to the gates of heaven by one of the angels to join her family that preceded her in death: her parents; sister, Delores Armour; brother, Roulette McNeal and daughter, Audrey Grant Stewart.
Our family is a circle of strength and love; with every birth and every union, the circle of love grows - every trial faced together makes the circle grow stronger. We who remain struck by the bitter pain of death, but are assured by the promise of God; that He would wipe all tears from our eyes are: husband, William Grant; children, Nicole McNeal, Tina Grant, Angel Grant, Yates Murphy and William Grant; brothers, Timothy and Robert McNeal; grandchildren, Marcus Proctor, Jeffrey Proctor, YaSean Scott, Yalen Murphy and Shaniya Murphy; a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
