Corey Levon Joyner, Sr., a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, departed this earthly life on Sunday, July 13th, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and unwavering kindness. Born on Tuesday, January 4th, 1972, in Hertford County, North Carolina, Corey was the cherished son of the late Delmo Joyner, Sr., and Mable Powell Joyner.

He received his formal education through the Northampton County Public School System. At an early age, Corey confessed his faith in Jesus Christ and united in Christian fellowship with Saint John A.M.E. Church in Conway, North Carolina.

Throughout his life, Corey held various jobs, but he found true fulfillment and purpose in his work as an auto salvage owner and operator. With a deep passion for his craft , Corey took great pride in every task he undertook. His dedication and strong work ethic were reflected in the care and precision he brought to each project. Known for his reliability and warm spirit, he earned the respect and admiration of all who worked with him.

In addition to his parents, Corey was preceded in death by; his beloved son, Corey Levon Joyner, Jr.; two brothers, Larry Joyner and Delmo Joyner, Jr. and his loving sister, Vanessa Bowser.

Left to treasure his memory is his loving wife, Joyce Joyner of Ahoskie, North Carolina; his daughter, Keeanna Joyner of Culpepper, Virginia; two daughters-at-heart, Rokenia Newsome of Ahoskie, North Carolina, and Barvika Williams of Greenville, North Carolina; two sons-at-heart, Mike Williams and Bob Williams, both of Ahoskie, North Carolina. He is also survived by two sisters, Cynthia Motley of Temple Hills, Maryland, and Patrina Deloatch (Timothy) of Conway, North Carolina; one brother, Willie Delmo Freeman (Bridget) of Middletown, Connecticut; brother-at-heart, Kevin K. Hoes of Temple Hills, Maryland; mother-in-law, Pattie Freeman of Chesapeake, Virginia, sisters-in-law, Tine Lee, and Lenise (Quincy) Howling of Newport News, Virginia and Amanda (Edwin) Howard of Virginia Beach, Virginia; brother-in-law, Clarence (LaQueeta) Smallwood of Knightdale, North Carolina and Raymond Freeman Jr. of Lewiston, North Carolina.

Corey’s life and love will also be cherished by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends. He also leaves behind two devoted aunts, Clorine Spruill (Bruce) and Clara Deloatch, whose love and support were constant sources of strength throughout his life.

Corey’s legacy of generosity, dedication, and love will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit will remain a guiding light for all whose lives he touched.
