Cynthia Parker Obituary

Cynthia Elaine Parker, began her journey through life on May 6, 1962 in Northampton County. She was born to the parentage of the late Ruben “Pete” James Bottoms and Annie Lois Parker Walker. Cynthia was a beautiful person, internally and externally, who possessed an unconditional love for her family and friends.

Cynthia was reared into the loving family and care of the late Ishmell and Reaver D. Powell. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and joined Allen Chapel AME Church in Conway, NC. Cynthia continued her spiritual walk through membership at First Baptist Church, Weldon, NC until she moved to Cary, NC. While in Cary, she joined Watts Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Raleigh, NC and remained a faithful member until God called her home.

Cynthia attended Northampton County Public Schools. She furthered her education and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Saint Augustine’s College in Organizational Management and Master’s degree from Cambridge College in Business Management. Cynthia had a contagious smile, love for people, and a passion for good cooking just like her mother-at-heart, Reaver D. Powell. Her love of cooking continued to develop and expand, thus, birthing “Cynsational” catering.

Cynthia worked as an administrative assistant for various businesses throughout her career. At the time of her passing, she was the executive administrative assistant for First Step Services, LLC in Cary, NC.

Cynthia Parker was initiated into the Phi Rho Zeta Chapter in Roanoke Rapids in the Spring of 2011. After moving to Cary, NC, she joined Sigma Rho Zeta. She had a special place in her heart for Zeta and lived the principles of the organization in her daily life. She embodied a thirst for clearer understanding of the organization and the business of Zeta as she completed several certifications including ZOL, and most recently participated in the North Carolina NAP cohort despite her illness. As the current Chaplain of the chapter, her kind words and sisterly corrections, inspiration, and charismatic presence is not only a loss to the Sigma Rho Zeta Chapter, but it is a tremendous loss to the Cary community.

Cynthia served the chapter for several years as the Community Liaison and was instrumental in bridging gaps between the Cary, NC community and the Sigma Rho Zeta Chapter with various organizations. Her personal and professional passion to feed those in need, prompted chapter partnerships with organizations like Dorcas Ministries Food Pantry and Read & Feed. In 2021, Cynthia Parker connected the Sigma Rho Zeta Chapter with the Cary Tree Archive, allowing the chapter to plant 5 memorial trees in honor of our Pearls.

On Tuesday, February 1, 2022; Cynthia Elaine Parker, at the age of 59, was set free when she answered the Master’s call of total healing and gained her heavenly wings. In addition to her parents, Cynthia was preceded in death by one sister, Theresa Parker and one nephew, Jamar Garrison.

Treasured memories of her devout love and affection will remain with us forever as she leaves to cherish her outpouring of love: her only son, Chandler V. Parker-Brown of Fort Drum, New York; two god-children, Aaron Howard and Amber Howard of Bronx, New York; a son-at-heart, Jayden T. Brown of Roanoke Rapids, NC; two brothers, Troy Bottoms of Baltimore, Maryland and Ruben Brooks of Atlanta, GA.; one sister, Lettitia Walker Bullock of Bronx, New York; four sisters-at-heart, Jeanette Deloatch of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Leslie ‘Pinky’ Moon (twin) of Weldon, NC, Tanya Moon-Brown (James T. Brown-CIL, as she fondly called him) of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Diana Boone of Newport News, VA; one brother-at-heart, Leonard Moon (twin); her best friend of 20 plus years, Cynthia Howard of Bronx, New York; two aunts, Margaret Strange of California and Pearlene Warren of Baltimore, Maryland; two uncles, Sam Bottoms of Baltimore, Maryland and Charles Grossman of Philadelphia, PA; nephews and nieces; Dashawn Parker, Tafone Parker, Rachaun Parker, Randy Fuller, Nadjay Bullock, Qua’Mar Bullock, Teiona Bullock, JaNyi Walker, Autumn Walker; a host of loving cousins and friends
