Franklin Delano Rooks transitioned to his Heavenly home after an illness on Friday, September 2, 2022. He was born on February 2, 1934 in Seaboard, North Carolina to the late Thomas Anthony Rooks and Lillian Goodwin.
Franklin was educated in the local public schools and spent most of his early years in Branchville, Virginia. At a young age, he attended and was baptized at Galilee Baptist Church in Branchville, Virginia. In his young adult life, he moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he was joined in Holy Matrimony to Ethel Mae Harris on March 24, 1956. To this union, God blessed them with two children, Angela Patrice Rooks and Raymond Delano Rooks. One son preceded Ethel and Franklin in death, William L. Harris.
In later years, he migrated back to Branchville, Virginia. While there, he joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Margarettsville, North Carolina. He was a member of the Trustee Board and later became a member of the Deacon Board. While employed in the commercial roofing industry for many years, he relocated to Midlothian, Virginia where he lived until he departed this life. One of his favorite hobbies was attending car shows with his classic car.
In addition to his loving parents, beloved wife and son; Franklin was preceded in death by his sister, Gerdell Thomas.
Many memories will always remain in the hearts of: his children, Angela Rooks of Chesterfield, Virginia and Raymond Rooks (Nellie) of Chesterfield, Virginia; grandchildren, LaTonya DeDerra (David) of Las Vegas, Nevada, LaTasha Harris of Baltimore, Maryland and Kayin Rooks of Chesterfield, Virginia; five great-grandchildren; three great, great-grandchildren; two sisters, Daisy Odom of Seaboard, North Carolina and Phyllis McLeod of Raleigh, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Relatives and Friends are encouraged to visit Deacon Rooks' tribute wall to share memories, extend condolences and to order floral tributes, as sentiments to the family.
