Deacon Timothy Richardson, Sr., age 81, of Seaboard, North Carolina peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 11th, 2026, while in the compassionate care of Northampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jackson. He was born on Monday, October 23rd, 1944, in Jackson, North Carolina, to the late Leroy Richardson, Sr. and Mary Ellen Alston Richardson. Deacon Richardson was the fifth child born to this blessed union of ten children and attended Northampton County Public Schools.
At an early age, Deacon Richardson accepted Christ and joined Bonne’s Chapel Baptist Church. Later, he moved his membership to Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a Deacon until his health declined. Known as a devoted man of prayer, he often prayed with family, friends, and anyone who sought encouragement. He met the love of his life, Linda Coates, and the two were united in marriage on October 12th, 1968. Their 57 years of marriage stood as a true testament to enduring love and devotion that inspired all who knew them.
Throughout his life, Deacon Richardson was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He spent many years working on the farm with Thomas Flythe, Sr. and Henry Ricks before beginning employment at Union Camp in Seaboard, North Carolina, where he worked faithfully until his health failed. Beyond his work, he was widely known as a friend and father figure to many people in the community.
Deacon Richardson will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was known for sitting at his door and waving to those passing by, often stopping to greet neighbors, share a conversation, or offer a prayer. His kindness and faith touched the hearts of many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy Richardson, Sr. and Mary Ellen Alston Richardson; his brothers, James Richardson and Joseph Richardson, Sr.; his sisters, Mary Richardson Britt, Emily Richardson Barber, and Evelyn Richardson Hargrove; and his grandmother, Mary Liza Alston.
Deacon Richardson leaves to cherish his memory and continue his legacy of love his devoted wife of 57 years, Linda Coates Richardson of the home; his daughters, Ulinda Richardson Joyner (Michael) and Stafney Richardson Branch, both of Seaboard, North Carolina, and Melissa Richardson Price (Jeffrey) of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; his son, Timothy Richardson, Jr. of Gastonia, North Carolina; and a niece/daughter, Tracey Richardson of Gastonia, North Carolina. He also leaves seven grandchildren: Danika Branch, Samuel Branch, Denzel Richardson, Michael Joyner, Jr., Deniya Richardson, Kobe Jackson, and M’Kai Jackson; and three great-grandchildren: Christian Lowe, Chase Lowe, and Miori Richardson.
He is also survived by two sisters, Jean Sykes (William) and Diana Warren (Collins); two brothers, Leroy Richardson, Jr. (Marcia) and Wayne Richardson I (Gloria); four sisters-in-law, Edith Coates, Evelyn Winborne, Elnora Richardson, and Maryline Richardson; and three brothers-in-law, James T. Coates, Jr., Jerome Coates (Martha), and Larry Coates. Additionally, he leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; three special men loved as brothers, Tommy Flythe (Nancy), Paul Flythe (Susan), and James Flythe (Jeannie); and three special friends, Russell Harris, Mike Davis (Caroline), and Joey Davis (Debbie). To God be the glory forever and ever.
