“All my life YOU have been faithful. All my life YOU have been so, so good.
With every breath that I am able, I will sing of the goodness of God.”
EARL JUNIOR BOWSER, the son of Helen Edwards Harris and the late Earl Bowser, was born on July 29th, 1956, in Jackson, North Carolina. Along with his siblings, Earl was raised with strong values instilled by his parents, including the importance of putting God first and the value of hard work.
Earl professed his faith in Christ and became a member of New Jerusalem Holiness Church in Garysburg, North Carolina. It was within the walls of this church that he built a solid foundation in the Lord, a foundation that would guide him throughout his life.
Earl attended and graduated from Northampton High School in Conway, North Carolina, before embarking on a career dedicated to helping others. He worked as an orderly, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of numerous patients. Earl's love for people also led him to become a truck driver, where his larger-than-life personality allowed him to connect with everyone he met during his deliveries. He had an innate ability to make anyone feel like a friend and never met a stranger.
Known for his love of music, laughter, and mentorship, Earl brought light to everyone around him. His quick wit and warm spirit could turn any situation into one filled with joy and laughter. Earl’s sense of humor remained constant, even in the face of life's challenges.
Earl peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 16th, 2025, at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia, surrounded by his loving family. God called him home, knowing that the hills he had climbed were becoming too difficult.
Earl was preceded in death by his father and his sister, Helen Futrell. He leaves behind a rich legacy of love and cherished memories. His devoted mother, Helen Edwards Harris, father-at-heart Robert Harris of Rich Square, North Carolina, his daughter Shakeita Boone of Franklin, Virginia, and his two caring siblings, McCoy Bowser of Woodland, North Carolina, and Clarice Booth of Weldon, North Carolina, will forever carry his memory in their hearts. He is also survived by his brother-at-heart, Kenny Harris of Rich Square, North Carolina, and a host of aunts, including Emma Harris of Woodland, North Carolina, Virginia Ponton of Margarettsville, North Carolina, and Shirley Whitaker of Rich Square, North Carolina, along with many other relatives and friends who were blessed by his presence.
The memory, life, love, and legacy of Earl Junior Bowser will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him.
