I am He who blots out you transgression... and remember your sins no more.
~ Isaiah 43: 18-25
Edward Jeon Deloatch, affectionately known as Eddie, was born on September 7, 1943, in Raleigh, North Carolina, to Henry Nathan Deloatch and Corine Lassiter. He was one of nine siblings, including Brenda Lee Deloatch, Gracie Deloatch Sexton, Henry L. Deloatch, Joseph L. Deloatch, John L. Deloatch, Kizzie Deloatch Lassiter, Robert Deloatch and Thomas Deloatch.
Eddie, raised in a Christian and God-fearing home, attended Jonesboro Elementary School, Coates Middle School, and Gumberry High School in the Northampton County Public Schools. He drove the school bus while in high school. The family worshiped together at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
In the tapestry of Eddie’s life, two beautiful chapters unfolded. He was a beloved spouse to Janie Marie Epps, sharing 23 years of marriage. The second chapter spanned 27 years with Clara Mae Williams, until her departure in March of 2011.
With 41 years of dedication, Eddie was employed at various Pathmark Supermarket locations, ascending to the position of Store Manager after completing the Food Industry Management Program at Cornell University. He also contributed his skills at Valley Fair Department Store in the Hardware department. Known for his dedication, Eddie shared laughter and wisdom, leaving an indelible mark on those around him.
Eddie found joy in attending church, fishing, and watching westerns and movies. Upon retirement, he and Clara relocated to Rich Square, North Carolina, where he rediscovered his faith.
On Wednesday, December 13, 2023, Eddie transitioned to eternal rest while under the care of ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina.
Eddie leaves behind cherished memories to be held in the hearts of four children from his first marriage: Lucinda Bullock, Anthony Deloatch, Imogene Jones and Michael Jones. From his second marriage, five stepchildren, Beverly Williams, Wallace Williams, Michelle Williams Jones, Chevelle Williams, and Raymond Williams, will also carry his legacy. A multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends join in cherishing the memory of Eddie.
Eddie will be profoundly missed, remembered for his goodhearted spirit, unwavering will, and passionate zest for life.
