“Your life was a BLESSING, Your memory a TREASURE,
You are LOVED beyond words and missed beyond MEASURE.”
Eloise Stewart Vinson, daughter of Emily Lee Stewart Robinson and the late Andrew Dickens, was born on Monday, September 1st, 1952, in Northampton County, North Carolina. She peacefully departed this life on Thursday, May 23rd, 2024, while under the care of UNC Hospital - Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
At an early age, Eloise accepted Christ and was baptized. She received her education in the Northampton County Public Schools. After graduation, she relocated to New Jersey and later Washington, D.C., before eventually returning to her hometown of Jackson, North Carolina. There, she held various jobs and enjoyed a fulfilling life.
Eloise cherished spending time with her loving family, having fun at the V&B Lounge, and attending the Jackson Allstars baseball games with her close friends, Evelyn ‘Sis’ Joyner and Emma Jeffries. During her teenage years, she loved traveling to Boston, Massachusetts, with her sister, Ernestine Williams to visit their aunt, Eunice Stewart.
A devoted mother, Eloise deeply loved her son, Marcus and her grandchildren, Marquee and Mariaa. Known for her independence, strength, and work ethic, she took great pleasure in shopping at Belk and JCPenney, and she looked forward to her hair appointments with her best friend, ‘Sis’. Eloise cherished her home in Woodland, North Carolina, which she kept immaculate. She enjoyed cooking, relaxing on her front porch, mowing the yard, and planting beautiful flowers. In 2018, she retired from GEO Corrections and Detention Facility in Winton, North Carolina.
Eloise was preceded in death by her father, Andrew Dickens; brothers, Earl Dade and Michael Robinson; sister, Maxine Stewart; niece, Sequita Moore; nephews, Anthony Hunter Moore and Robert Lee Miller, III; and her beloved dog, Peaches.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory: her loving son, Marcus Lawrence; her grandchildren, Marquee Lawrence and Mariaa Lawrence; her mother, Emily Lee Stewart Robinson of Jackson, North Carolina; her sisters, Ernestine Williams of Landover, Maryland, Sylvia Wilkins (Robert Lee) of Jackson, North Carolina, Sandra Miller of Forestville, Maryland, and Dianna Robinson of Seaboard, North Carolina; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Eloise will be remembered for her loving spirit, strength, and the joy she brought to her family and friends.
