“If I can help somebody as I travel along, If I can help somebody in a word or a song If
I can help somebody from doing wrong, No, my living shall not be in vain”
Emily Lee Stewart-Robinson was born on Wednesday, May 30th, 1934, in Northampton County, North Carolina, to the late George Stewart Jr. and Eva Tann Stewart. On Sunday, January 5th, 2025, she peacefully transitioned from this earthly life.
At a young age, Emily became a faithful member of Piney Grove Baptist Church and later joined Mount Hope Baptist Church, where she continued her spiritual journey under the leadership of Rev. Barfield. She knew the Lord as her Savior, and her faith remained a guiding light throughout her life.
Emily had a long and dedicated career, working for the Northampton County Department of Social Services and the Northampton County Department of Aging, where she served as a Home Health Care Aid until her retirement. In her leisure time, Emily loved attending church, chatting on the phone, and watching her favorite TV shows, The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. She also cherished spending time with her family, neighbors, and friends. Known for her impeccable style, she always dressed in beautiful church suits and matching hats.
Emily’s heart was as golden as her spirit. A true family matriarch, she always kept her door open to anyone in need, offering a warm and loving welcome to family and friends alike. When you visited “Ms. Emily’s,” you were always greeted with kindness, hospitality, and a delicious meal, embodying her generous and loving nature.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Eva Stewart, her children Earl Dade, Michael Robinson, Maxine Stewart, Eloise Stewart Vinson, and Sylvia Wilkins, as well as her grandchildren Sequita Moore, Anthony Hunter Moore, Tomeka Dade, and Robert Lee Miller III, and great-grandsons Keyuon Garner and Latrell Stephenson.
Emily leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters: Ernestine Williams of Landover, Maryland, Sandra Miller of Forestville, Maryland, and Dianna Robinson of Seaboard, North Carolina; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; fourteen great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law Robert L. Wilkins, Jr.; her brothers, Cornell Stewart (Dora), Chester Stewart and Charles Stewart (Angela); caregivers Lois Joyner, Mary Deloatch, and Sheketia Stephenson; special family friend Mark Cole; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Her legacy of love, compassion, and generosity will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
