Emma Marie (Mayo) Banks

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there

Emma Marie Mayo Banks was born to the late James Daniels and Mary Mayo on Sunday, June 18th, 1954, in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. She departed this earthly life on Sunday, August 4th, 2024; while in the care of ECU Health Medical Center, Greenville, North Carolina.

Emma was a dedicated member of Roanoke Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Jackson, North Carolina, where she attended regularly until her health declined. Known for her love of cooking, she enjoyed hosting parties at her home. Above all, she cherished her family and was a wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother.

Emma received her formal education through Northampton County Schools and furthered her studies at Halifax Community College, Weldon, North Carolina, where she earned certificates in Basic Law Enforcement Training and Firearm Safety. She later obtained her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license. Throughout her career, she worked as a Corrections Officer and a CNA.

Emma leaves behind precious memories with her loving spouse, Claiborne Johnson Banks; son, Reginald (Glenda); daughter, Ashley; grandchildren, Terrance, Adryen, Emma, Kadijah, Brittany, Marcus, Desiree, Quentin, Zachariah, and Noah; and great-grandchildren, Jamie, Jeremiah, Tyrone, and Krysten. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Mayo, Louise Epps (Arthur Lee), Joyce Boone (Alvin); brothers, Joe Douglas, Ray Douglas (Maybelle), Robert Douglas (Gloria); uncle Collin Williams; mother-in-law, Carrie Banks; sisters-in-law, Bertha Johnson (Burnette) and Mamie Banks; brothers-in-law, Joe Henry Banks (Ella), John Banks, and Leon Banks (Trudy); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Relatives and Friends are encouraged to visit Mrs. Banks' tribute wall to share memories, extend condolences and to order floral tributes, as sentiments to the family.
