Emma Jeffries Obituary

After the clouds, the sunshine, after the winter, the spring,

After the shower, the rainbow, for life is a changeable thing.

After the night, the morning, bidding all darkness cease,

After life’s cares and sorrows, the comfort and sweetness of peace.

Today we pause to pay tribute to the memory of Emma Ramsey Jeffries, who was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Godmother and Friend. She was one who loved unconditionally, and not only nurtured her family, but enriched the lives of many.

On Wednesday, December 22, 1948, in Northampton County, North Carolina, life was bestowed upon Emma as she was born to the parentage of the late Robert Ramsey Sr. and Dellia Flood Ramsey. She was educated in the Northampton County School System; graduating from W. S. Creecy High School - Class of 1968. After graduation, and in search of better opportunities, Emma relocated to Newark, New Jersey.

As life progressed, Emma returned to North Carolina, where she furthered her studies at Roanoke Chowan Community College; graduating with an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development. For some years, she was employed as a Front Desk Manager at the Ramada Inn, located in Ahoskie, North Carolina.

Early in life, Emma accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Jackson, North Carolina. She later united in Christian Fellowship with the Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Jackson, North Carolina, where she remained a faithful member until her demise.

Emma was united in Holy Matrimony to the late William Jeffries. God blessed their union with five loving children.

Life is but a stopping place, A pause in what’s to be, A resting place along the road, to sweet eternity. We all have different journeys, Different paths along the way. We all were meant to learn some things, but never meant to stay… Our destination is a place, Far greater than we know. For some the journey is quicker, For some the journey’s slow. And when the journey finally ends, We’ll claim a great reward, And find an everlasting peace, Together with the lord. On Friday, January 14, 2022, our beloved Emma departed this earthly life surrounded by family, while in the care of University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore, Maryland. She answered God’s solemn call to sweet eternal rest and is now reunited with those who preceded her in death, including her parents; beloved husband, William Jeffries; brother, Robert Ramsey, Jr. and grandson, Derrick Harrell, Jr.

A million times we've needed you, a million times we've cried.  If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died.  In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still.
