“Sad is the parting, no one can tell: So sudden on earth the sorrow fell,
The blow was hard, the shock severe; To part with one we love so dear.
Dearer still, as days depart; Our loved one’s memory will forever live within our hearts!”
With hearts full of love and cherished memories, we gather today to honor and celebrate the life of Eric Freeman—a beloved brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend.
Born on Monday, September 15th, 1969, in Milwaukee (Northampton County), North Carolina, Eric was the treasured son of Lancie and Mattie Earley Freeman. After a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to his family, he peacefully transitioned on Saturday, March 15th, 2025, in the comfort and serenity of his family home. He was 55 years of age - as he would often say, “My age is the speed limit.”
A proud 1987 graduate of Northampton County High School - East, Eric had a passion for track and excelled in hurdles. His interests extended beyond the track; he found joy in singing, listening to music, playing basketball, and cooking—each hobby reflecting his vibrant and joyful spirit.
Eric never met a stranger. He had an extraordinary gift for making others laugh with his quick wit and good-natured humor. He was always in good spirits and brought warmth and light wherever he went. His greatest joy was his family, for whom he would give selflessly. One of his favorite gospel songs, “Second Chance,” resonated deeply with him, as he truly believed in grace and redemption for all.
Eric was the fifth of his siblings, and he was preceded in death by two older brothers. He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted brother, Larry; his loving sister, Tabitha; two caring aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Though Eric is no longer physically with us, his spirit remains woven into the lives of all who knew him. His kindness, strength, and unwavering love will forever be remembered and treasured. May his memory serve as a source of comfort, inspiration, and a reminder of the joy he so effortlessly shared.
Rest in peace, Eric. Your love and laughter will forever echo in our hearts.
