Frank Stephenson Obituary

THE LIFE & LEGACY OF Arthur...

The years may pass but still you stay...as near and dear as yesterday.

THE EARLY YEARS

On Tuesday, January 29, 1946, in Severn (Northampton County), North Carolina; it may have been cold outside but the heart of Elizabeth Stephenson was warm with joy, as she welcomed her new baby boy, thereafter naming him - Frank Arthur Stephenson. Frank’s educational foundation began at Meherrin School, Severn, North Carolina.

THE YEARS OF GRACE

After growing up on the farm, Frank decided to relocate to New Jersey to be with his brother, uncles and cousins. While there, he gained employment at Overbrook Hospital in food service and then began working for Gourmet Dining Services. “There’s no place like home” were words that ran through the mind of Frank, as his heart was still in North Carolina. Upon his retirement, he moved back to Rich Square, North Carolina; picking up right where he left off. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Severn, North Carolina, where his love for God was deepened and he was spiritually empowered. While there, he served under the pastoral tutelage and watchful eye of Reverend Elisha Barnes.

THE YEARS OF JOY

Arthur, his middle name and how he was often referred to, loved his family, his life and his church. You would often see him passing by (not at a slow speed) in his vehicle simply enjoying life. Spending quality time with his family and all of those get-togethers are things that brought him great joy. If you wanted to see or talk with Arthur, you had to do it before the Price is Right and The Young and Restless. During Basketball season, don’t say anything about “his team” - The Lakers or player, Kobe Bryant, both of which he loved. Arthur loved Oatmeal, Chicken and Sweet Potatoes. When his health presented challenges, Arthur would maintain an easy-going spirit, that captivating laughter and infectious smile.

THE YEARS OF OLD

“We little knew that morning, that God was going to call your name, in life we loved you dearly; in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone. For part of us went with you, the day God called you home…” On Thursday, May 20, 2021; while in the care of Northampton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Jackson, North Carolina; our dear loved peacefully slipped into eternal slumber. He now rest in the safe arms of our Heavenly Father alongside all those relatives who have gone on before him, including: his mother, Elizabeth Harris; grandparents, McKinley & Addie Stephenson; brothers, Willie Joe Harris, Rudolph Harris and Albert Harris; aunts, Maude Lee and Lois Monger; uncles, McKinley Stephenson, Jr. and Edward Stephenson and a host of other family members.

CHERISHED MEMORIES

“...You left us peaceful memories, your move is still our guide, and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side. Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.” We who remain struck by the bitter pains of death, but satisfied at the promises of God; that He will wipe away all tears from our eyes: his siblings, Garland Stephenson (Gloria) of Garysburg, North Carolina, Clarence Harris (Elaine) of Murfreesboro, North Carolina, Eddie Harris (Lillian) of Severn, North Carolina, Lorenzo Harris, Jr. (Ophelia) of Como, North Carolina, Aaron Harrris of Potecasi, North Carolina, Mary Stephenson of Severn, North Carolina, Joyce Everett (Lewis) of Hampton, Virginia; his aunt, Hilda West, of Norfolk, Virginia; his uncles; Floyd Stephenson of Courtland, Virginia, Theodore Stephenson (Mae Lois) of Seaboard, North Carolina and Robert Stephenson of Como, North Carolina; a host of other relatives and friends.
