Gabriel Paul Watson

“Sad is the parting, no one can tell: So sudden on earth the sorrow fell,

The blow was hard, the shock severe; To part with one we love so dear.

       It all began one cool October day, that life was bestowed upon Gabriel Paul Watson, son of the late Paul Bynum Watson and Evelyn Benjamin Watson, as he was born on Thursday, October 9, 1980, in Halifax County, North Carolina.

       While growing up in the beautiful and rural Northampton County, Gabe’, as he was fondly known, was educated in the Northampton County Public School System - attending Jackson Eastside Elementary and Conway Middle Schools and lastly Northampton County High School - East.

       As a young adult, ‘Gabe’ grew, developed and matured into a handsome and loving person, who relocated to Asheville, North Carolina. Many of his favorite pastimes were weight lifting and playing chess. ‘Gabe’ was known to be a quiet and easy going person, who pretty much kept to himself. However, he treasured quality time with family and close friends.

       “Life is like a game of chess...there are many moves possible, but each move determines your next move...where you wind up is the sum total of all your past moves...but first you have to make some kind of move.” On Thursday, June 18, 2020 while in Asheville, North Carolina ‘Gabe’ made his final move and departed this earthly life.

       We thought of you today, but that is nothing new. We thought about you yesterday and the day before that too. We think of you in silence and often speak your name. Now all we have are memories and your picture in a frame. Your memory is our keepsake, with which we’ll never part. God has you in His keeping and we have you in our hearts: his son, Xizavier Watson; sister, Shawanda Watson; a host of loving aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.
