“What we once enjoyed and deeply loved, we can never lose,
for all that we love deeply, becomes a part of us.”
Georgia Ruth Lloyd Blunt, began her journey through life on Friday, October 24, 1947 in Northampton County, North Carolina to the parentage of the late Willie Lloyd and Bernice Morris Lloyd.
‘Brown Sugar’, as she was fondly called, was educated in the Northampton County Public School System; graduating from Willis Hare High School - Class of 1966. After high school, she relocated to the Washington DC Metro Area. She later returned to Northampton County, where she met and united in Holy Matrimony with the late Roosevelt ‘Pemo’ Blunt.
For many years, Georgia was employed with Rolic Manufacturing Company and Perdue Farms, until her health began to fail.
Early in life, Georgia accepted Christ and became a member of Galilee Baptist Church of Branchville, Virginia. She later united in Christian Fellowship with Zoar Missionary Baptist Church; under the leadership of the late Pastor, Dr. William F. Denson, Jr. and remained a faithful servant until the Lord called her home.
Spending quality time with her children and grandchildren brought Georgia great joy. She also loved those weekly conversations with her brothers; solving crossword and word search puzzles; watching Gunsmoke and Walker Texas Ranger.
“After the clouds, the sunshine; after the winter, the spring; After the shower, the rainbow; for life is a changeable thing. After the night, the morning, bidding all darkness cease, After life’s cares and sorrows, the comfort and sweetness of peace.” Georgia quietly and peacefully answered God’s call from earthly labor unto sweet eternal rest on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 while in the care of Vidant Medical Center of Greenville, North Carolina. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by: two brothers, Willie Claude Morris and James Henry Lloyd and four sisters, Maggie Lloyd, Shirley Deloatch, Catherine Bottoms and Francis Bottoms.
Our family is a circle of strength and love; with every birth and every union, the circle of love grows - every trial faced together makes the circle grow stronger. We, who are bound by treasured ties of affection and love as we pass her to God’s keeping are: four children, Tonia Morris of Pendleton, North Carolina, Timothy Morris of Conway, North Carolina, Shedrina Blunt of Woodland, North Carolina and Aletha Harris (Crispin) of Suffolk, Virginia; eleven grandchildren, Devontay Morris, Duane Morris, Shanda Mason, Daveon Mason, Taveon Mason (Carol), Tearra Blunt, Tia Blunt, Tyasia Blunt, Shaquisha Blunt, Reginald Anderson and Shadisha Anderson; eleven great-grandchildren, Dallas, Makayla, Maleyah, Jamarion, Jaylen and Jace Mason, Jah’Kiyah Faison, Jah’Quarius, Ja’den and Ja’Nylah Blunt and K’ymier Anderson; five brothers, Leon Lloyd (Cynthia) of Severn, North Carolina, Rufus Lloyd of Lumberton, North Carolina, Roosevelt Bottoms of Severn, North Carolina, Willie C. Bottoms (Gladys) of Margarettsville, North Carolina and June Bottoms (Leticia) of Maryland; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Vaughan and Carol Ann Blunt; two close friends/sisters-at-heart, Lois Everette and Ruth Scott Dewitt; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
