Gerald Taylor Obituary

“Sad is the parting, no one can tell: So sudden on earth the sorrow fell,

The blow was hard, the shock severe; To part with one we love so dear.

Dearer still, as days depart; Our loved one’s memory will forever live within our hearts!”

Gerald Lynn Taylor, was born on Tuesday, December 16, 1969 in Northampton County, North Carolina to the parentage of the late Elmo Bennett Taylor and Thelma Lee Deloatch Taylor.

Gerald was educated through the public schools of Northampton County. As life progressed, he gained employment with Duck Thru of Franklin, Virginia. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. As a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

"Life is but a stopping place, A pause in what’s to be, A resting place along the road, to sweet eternity. We all have different journeys, Different paths along the way, We all were meant to learn some things, but never meant to stay… Our destination is a place, Far greater than we know. For some the journey is quicker, For some the journey’s slow. And when the journey finally ends, We’ll claim a great reward, And find an everlasting peace, Together with the Lord."  On Thursday, January 12, 2023, Gerald departed life’s journey and entered into eternal rest. In addition to his loving parents, Gerald was preceded in death by: two brothers, Samuel Taylor and Bennett McCoy Taylor.

Though the clouds may hang over, there will be a brighter day, in that land that they call heaven, God shall wipe all tears away. Cherished memories shall forever remain in the hearts of: his wife, Vivian Debreaux Gilliam of Potecasi, North Carolina; two sons, Michael Taylor of Woodland, North Carolina and Donta Roscoe of Kelford, North Carolina; two daughters-at-heart, Khadijah Ramsey (Keith) of Potecasi, North Carolina and Synquis Roberts (Bobby) of Raleigh, North Carolina; four grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; his siblings, Eugene Taylor (Brenda) and Evon Taylor Sykes both of Gumberry, North Carolina, Rev. Dr. James Earnest Taylor (Lorretta) of Mamaroneck, New York, Aubrey Patterson (Mary) of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Winfred Patterson (Rochell) of Stone Mountain, Georgia and Sabrina Patterson of Decatur, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends
