Gracie Mae (Buffaloe) Roberts

     Gracie Mae Buffaloe Roberts was born on July 23, 1944 in Northampton County, North Carolina to the parentage of the late Lewis Pernell Buffaloe and Lillie Mae Kee Buffaloe. She was educated in the public Schools of Northampton County, graduating from Gumberry High School, Gumberry, North Carolina.

     Early in life, Gracie accepted Christ as her Savior and united in Christian Fellowship with the Roanoke Salem Missionary Baptist Church, Garysburg, North Carolina, where she remained a faithful member until her health began to decline. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Willie Lee Roberts.

     As life progressed, Gracie became gainfully employed with Hampton Woods Health & Rehabilitation Center (currently Northampton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center) of Jackson, North Carolina and Halifax Regional Medical Center (currently ECU Health North Hospital) of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, before retiring in 2015.  Gracie was a loving and caring person. She had a heart of gold and would do anything she could to help anyone. She loved the Lord and her family very dearly.

     She’s in the sun, the wind, the rain, she’s in the air you breathe with every breath you take. She sings a song of hope and cheer, there’s no more pain, no more fear. You’ll see her in the clouds above, hear her whisper words of love, you’ll be together before long, until then listen for her song. On Sunday, December 4, 2022; while in the care of ECU Health Medical Center, Greenville, North Carolina, God in his infinite wisdom, released our dear loved one from the cares and sufferings of this present time. Her seeds are well-sown; her service on earth is complete, and she now experiences the victory and triumph of eternal life. In addition to her parents and husband, Gracie was preceded in death by: her siblings, Lewis Buffaloe, Roy Lee Buffaloe, Jaunita Buffaloe Harrell, Willie Mack Buffaloe and Gladys Jean Buffaloe.

     A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands at rest, It broke our hearts to see you go, God only takes the best. ... Our lips cannot speak how we love you, Our hearts cannot tell what to say, But God only knows how we miss you, In our home that is lonely on today. We who remain, struck by the bitter pains of death, but satisfied at the promise made by God, that he will wipe all tears from our eyes are: her children, Florine Parker (Glaston, Jr.) of Murfreesboro, North Carolina, Herbert Lee Roberts (Shelia) of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Cornell Roberts (Angela) of Pleasant Hill, North Carolina and Calvin Roberts (Latonya) of Clinton, New Jersey; grandchildren, Devita, Aukeya, Dominique, Travis, Tayshaun, Montrel and Shaquella; great-grandchildren, Arieyel, Keith, Eriyana, Kailey and Ky’lan; her siblings, Sylvia Ann Stephenson of Pendleton, North Carolina, Burnell Jackson (Steve) of Jackson, North Carolina and John Harvey Buffaloe of Berlin, Germany; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Relatives and Friends are encouraged to visit Mrs. Roberts' tribute wall to share memories, extend condolences and to order floral tributes, as sentiments to the family.
