“That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!”
~ 2 Corinthians 4:16-17 NLT
James Junius Davis, born to the late Robert Lee Davis and Mary Frances Williams Davis on Tuesday, February 15th, 1955, completed his earthly journey on Monday, May 6th, 2024, while in the serenity of his home. He traversed his formative years amidst the educational corridors of Northampton County's Public Schools, culminating in his graduation from Northampton County High School - East , with the esteemed Class of 1973.
James etched himself into the fabric of his community through his passion for baseball, leaving an indelible mark as a loyal player and an ever-present figure. Those acquainted with him recognized his vivacious spirit, finding solace in his infectious laughter and zest for life. Though known for his unfiltered candor on occasion, James's heart overflowed with a genuine love for social interactions, particularly when rallying behind his beloved Dallas Cowboys.
In the solemnity of his passing, James reunites with his departed parents and brother, Willie Lee ‘Bear’ Davis.
Left to cradle cherished memories are: his beloved son, Mario Broadnax and daughter-in-law, Pauletta of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. His legacy continues through his adored grandchildren, Jaden, Marianna and Quentin of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, and Alontae of Houston, Texas.
James' presence will be profoundly missed by his siblings: Barbara Davis, Helen Wilkins (Robert), Robert Davis (Rosa) all of Jackson, North Carolina and Lee Ernest Davis (Rachel) of Wildwood, New Jersey; sister-in-law, Brenda Davis of Margarettsville, North Carolina. His aunts, Ruth Motley and Gladys Williams, both of Jackson, North Carolina, also mourn his passing alongside a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, all forever touched by his warmth and generosity.
