Jeffery Harris Obituary

“Remembering you is easy, we do it everyday

Missing you is a heartache, which will never go away.”

It was on Tuesday, April 12, 1988, that life was bestowed upon Jeffery Eugene Harris, as he was born in Montgomery, Maryland, to the parentage of Jeffery Eugene Harris and Barbara Vaughan.

Jeffery was educated in the Northampton County School System; graduating from Northampton County High School-East, Class of 2006, where he played baseball. After high school, he began his hardworking career at Smithfield Packing Company and then Huntington Ingalls Industries, for 16 years. Although his health began to decline, he continued to provide van transportation for his fellow co-workers. Jeffery loved grilling, fishing, playing cornhole, riding motorcycles and mostly getting dirty on four wheelers with the “Get Muddy Crew”.

Having God as an integral part of his upbringing, Jeffery accepted Christ, early in life, as his Lord and Savior and united in Christian Fellowship with Zoar Missionary Baptist Church, Pendleton, North Carolina. He believed in God; the Father Almighty, who created heaven and earth and he possessed strong faith in Christ. During this time, he attended Sunday School, sang in the choir and was a part of the Usher’s Ministry.

Life is but a stopping place, A pause in what’s to be, A resting place along the road, to sweet eternity. We all have different journeys, Different paths along the way, We all were meant to learn some things, but never meant to stay… Our destination is a place, Far greater than we know. For some the journey is quicker, For some the journey’s slow. And when the journey  finally ends, We’ll claim a great reward, And find an everlasting peace, Together with the lord. On Tuesday, October 19, 2021, while in the care of UNC Chapel Hill Hospital, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Jeffery answered God’s call from earthly labor unto his eternal rest. He was preceded in death by: his brother, Anthony Fraizer, Jr.; grandparents, Gladys Vaughan and McKinley Mizelle; uncle, Willie ‘Bear’ Davis; aunts, Karen Blount and Marylin Vaughan.

Though the clouds may hang over, there will be a brighter day, in that land that they call heaven, God shall wipe all tears away. His loving spirit, caring heart and generosity will long be remembered by all of those whose lives he touched: his beloved daughter and the light of his life, Jai’Harmoni Harris; parents, Rev. Ronald P. Daye and Annie M. Daye; sisters, Veronica (Eric) Harris, Jessica Harris, Lashonda Vaughan, Tyesha Hill, Tamekia Lynn and Tonica Hill; brother, Rodney Jackson; his companion, Michelle Rogers; special right hand man and uncle, Sherman Mizelle; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, co-workers and friends.
