Johnta Lamont Mason

Johnta Lamont Mason Sr., age 34, gained his heavenly wings on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, in Gaston, North Carolina . He joins his grandparents Eddie & Novella Mason, Aggest & Dillie Everett, as well as his cousins, Lorenzo Tann Jr.,Wilton Cotton, James Mason and Shaun Rogers, in eternal peace.

Johnta, affectionately known as John or Tae, was born on Wednesday, August 23, 1989, in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, to Patricia Ann Mason and John Lee Everett. He attended Northampton County High School - East and earned his diploma from Miracle Tabernacle Christian School in 2008. A lifelong resident of Jackson, North Carolina, Johnta grew up in a neighborhood called “Da Bottom,” and often said, “It gets lonely at the top, so you know I got to bring Da Bottom with me.”

Johnta worked at West Fraser in Seaboard, North Carolina, from January 28, 2014, to February 21, 2024. He achieved a significant milestone by receiving his CDL permit the day before he was called to God’s kingdom. Johnta gave his life to Christ at an early age and enjoyed fast cars, crab legs, potatoes, and onions, believing that any car he drove was the fastest. He cherished spending time with his family and friends, and his bright smile expressed his love to all he encountered. Always willing to help others, Johnta’s generosity and warmth were well-known.

On Friday, September 14, 2013, Johnta was united in matrimony to Brittany Hargrove. Together, they had three beautiful children.

Johnta leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Brittany, and their children, Tranaveia Purnell, Johniry Mason, and Johnta Mason Jr. of Baltimore, Maryland; his mother, Patricia Mason of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; his father, John Lee Everett (Regina) of Gaston, North Carolina; his sisters, Shonta Mason of Raleigh, North Carolina, Tyshera Mason of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Shawanda Boone (Stephen) of Youngsville, North Carolina, Shannon Squire (Jamarcus) of Mebane, North Carolina and Laquita Thompson (Dontrell) of Greensboro, North Carolina; his brothers, John Lee Everett Jr. of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Tyleek Tann of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina and Johnathan Everett (Sherita) of Whitakers, North Carolina; his uncles, Lorenzo Tann (Doris) of Jackson, North Carolina, Leroy Mason (Jackie) of Conway, North Carolina, Ricky Everett (Melissa) and Leon Everett all of Seaboard, North Carolina, Crandall Everett (Marcia) of South Carolina, and Morris Everett of Richmond, Virginia; his aunts, Jackie Neal (Kevin) of Jackson, North Carolina, Carol Harris of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Annette Gray (James) of Seaboard, North Carolina; his nieces, Novell Hicks, Jahnell Mason, and Jamiya Boone; nephews, Zamir Everett, Sincere Everett, and Stephen Boone Jr. He also leaves behind a host of cousins and a very special friend, Sheneka Long.
