Josiah Harris Obituary

“Sad is the parting, no one can tell: So sudden on earth the sorrow fell,

The blow was hard, the shock severe; To part with one we love so dear.

Dearer still, as days depart; Our loved one’s memory will forever live

within our hearts!”

Josiah Ja’Shaun Harris, age 21, of Conway, North Carolina, transitioned from his earthly home into the arms of his heavenly Father on Sunday, December 22nd, 2024.

Josiah was born on Tuesday, July 29th, 2003, at the family home on Gilmer Ricks Road in Conway, North Carolina, to Gregory L. Harris Sr. and Evangelyn Edwards Harris. As the eighth of Gregory and Evangelyn’s thirteen children and their secondborn son, Josiah held a special place in the heart of his large, loving family.

One of Josiah’s greatest joys was farming. He found happiness in the cab of a tractor, planting rows in the spring and harvesting crops in the fall. Living and working on the family farm was his passion, and he recently moved into the cherished family farmhouse. Josiah loved spending time outdoors, hunting, working on his truck, and enjoying time at the beach. His friends and family cherished his company and the moments they spent together.

Known for his kindness and thoughtful compliments, Josiah brought joy to those around him. Despite long, tiring days on the farm, he cherished holding his nieces as babies and spending quality time with his oldest niece on the tractor, sharing his love for the farm with her from a young age.

Josiah’s presence was unmistakable—often seen in his dirty work clothes and Xtratuf boots, his sunglasses always around his neck and his hat slightly tilted to the right. His personality and style were as unique as his spirit.

Josiah leaves behind sweet memories with his parents, Gregory and Evangelyn Harris Sr.; his siblings Ebony Harris, Ashley Harris, Jasmine Harris, Gabrielle Harris, Shannon Harris, Gregory Harris Jr., Omoni Harris, Nashia Harris, Anasha Harris, Isaiah Harris, Noah Harris, and Hadassah Harris; his nieces Nyelle Harris and Abigail Harris; his maternal grandparents Harvey and Belinda Edwards; a host of aunts, uncles, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Elsie Mae Harris Sr., and his maternal great-grandparents, Rochelle and Lillie Mae Vaughan.

Josiah Ja’Shaun Harris will be remembered for his generous heart, unwavering kindness, and the joy he brought to everyone who knew him. His legacy will continue to live on through the love he shared and the memories he created.
