Remembering ‘JoJo’...
Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep;
If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take.
If I should live a thousand days, I pray that God will direct my ways;
But if I die before I wake, I pray that He my soul will take.
Josiah Lewis Jackson, was born on Monday, October 2, 2023 in Halifax County, North Carolina to the parentage of Ja’Quan Lewis Jackson and Ashlee Locke.
Affectionately known as ‘JoJo’ by his adoring family, Josiah was a source of unconditional love and perfection in their eyes. His brief but impactful life renewed faith in God, strengthened spiritual connections and mended brokenness within the family.
On Saturday, December 9, 2023, in the peaceful serenity of his home, ‘JoJo’ peacefully ascended unto the heavens. Though our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the 69 days God granted us to share and shower Josiah with love.
Josiah is forever remembered and cherished by his parents, Ja’Quan Jackson and Ashlee Locke; sister, Avalynn Jackson, all of the home. He is also survived by his paternal grandparents, Antionette Brooks (Emeka) of Seaboard, North Carolina and Stanley Jackson of Jackson, North Carolina; maternal grandparents, Candice Christopher (Cary) of Gates, North Carolina and Bruce Locke (Susan) of Hampton, Virginia. Additionally, he is survived by his paternal great-grandparents, Steve & Burnell Jackson of Jackson, North Carolina, Dorothy Brooks (James) of Seaboard, North Carolina and Jerry Brooks, Sr. (Jessie) of Pleasant Hill, North Carolina; maternal great-grandparents, Rebecca McKenzie (Kirk) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Timothy Evans, Sr. of Riceville, Iowa; maternal great-great-grandmother, Viola Hart of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Josiah is also remembered by aunts Asian Ryland of Seaboard, North Carolina, and Da’Hylah Jackson of Garysburg, North Carolina; uncles J’Mauri Stephenson of Seaboard, North Carolina, Zachary Locke and Brady Locke both of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Jordan Locke of Newport News, Virginia. He is further survived by uncles-at-heart, Gerald, Eric, Isiah and Zion; aunts-at-heart, Lisa Buffaloe, Jacqueline Duvall, and Julia Toledo; and a host of loving great-aunts, great-uncles and relatives who share in the profound loss.
As we say goodbye, we hold on to the comforting words Josiah leaves us with: “Mommy & Daddy, I’m happy in heaven up above. I’m snuggled in the angel’s wings, all wrapped in your love.” May his memory continue to bring solace and warmth to our hearts.
Relatives and Friends are encouraged to visit Josiah's tribute wall to share memories, extend condolences and to order floral tributes, as sentiments to the family.
