Karen Blount Obituary

God watched you as you suffered, and knew you had your share,
He tenderly closed your eyes, and took you in His Care.

Karen Laverne Mizelle Blount, was born  on Sunday, December 20, 1964 to  the loving care of Annease Mason Mizell and the late Othevelt Mckinley Mizelle in Margarettsville, North Carolina.
During her early years, Karen gave her life to Christ and was a member of Zoar Missionary Baptist Church. She loved God and attended church activities and functions regularly, until she left the area.  While growing up in the Mizelle residence, Karen received her formal education in Northampton County Schools, graduating from Northampton County High School. As life progressed, Karen sought to further her education by briefly attending Chowan University and later enrolling at Oregon State University.
As Karen matured in life, she met the love of her life and later united in Holy Matrimony with Joseph Armstrong Blount of Murfreesboro, NC on November 2, 1985.  This marriage was one of longevity as they were married for thirty-five years and to this union two beautiful daughters were born: Marcella B. Deshazo (Rashaun) and Kanella C. Blount (Omalhie Campbell). Karen was quiet and devoted to her family and nothing was more important than their care. She was blessed with five grandchildren: Joseph (JoJo) Ivy, Kylee Blount, Natalia Deshazo, Nazari Deshazo and Omalhie Campbell and they were the joy of her life.
Upon moving several times during their military career of twenty-two years, they made their home in Killeen, Texas. While there, Karen was employed by Walmart for twenty-three years. Many knew her for being kind and considerate of all she came in contact with.
Wings...Are carved surfaces that lift...Wings enable you to soar beyond all your self-imposed restrictions and take you to the lofty heights you dare to dream of. Wings can offer protection and comfort, as in "under one's wing."  Wings remind us of the angels that guard and guide us from above, and of those angels that walk among us. Wings remind us that it is in our power to be an angel to the next person, who may just happen to need one. Anything is possible, when you have wings. On Sunday, September 6, 2020, while in the serenity of her home and surrounded by loved ones, Karen gained her wings - she received two wings to veil her face, two wings to veil her feet and two wings to fly away so that the world can do her no harm. As she transitioned from our care and into God's Keeping, she now resides safe in the arms of Jesus and we can hear her spirit utter these words: "Don't cry for me, I'm not gone. My soul is at rest, my heart lives on. Light a candle for me to see and hold on my memory, but save your tears for I'm still here by your side through the years."

She's in the sun, the wind, the rain, she's in the air you breathe with every breath you take. She sings a song of hope and cheer, there's no more pain, no more fear. You'll see her in the clouds above, hear her whisper words of love, you'll be together before long, until then listen for her song. In addition to her husband, children and grandchildren, she now leaves to cherish her most precious memories to: her mother,  Annease Mizelle of Margarettsville, NC; two brothers  and  five sisters, Sherman Mizelle of Pendleton, NC, Annie Daye (Ronald) of Pendleton, NC, Brenda Davis of Margarettsville, NC, Clinton Mizelle, Sr. (Gloria) of Margarettsville, NC, Jacqueline Parker (Aro) of Como, NC, Debra Boyce (Dennis) of Conway, NC and Edith Mizelle-Wright (Issac) of Margarettsville, NC; eleven nieces and nephews; seventeen great-nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Anna Mazel Blount; eight brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; two special friends, Carolyn Mathis and Shona Love and a special thanks to Susan Boone, for checking on her weekly.
