Kenneth 'Kenny' Harmon Obituary

Kenneth Harmon, was born on Thursday, July 15, 1965. in Northampton County, North Carolina to the parentage of Eugene and Dellar Harmon.

Kenny graduated from Northampton County High School in Conway, North Carolina. He played basketball, was #32 in football and he ran track. He was an active member of Menola First Baptist Church, where he was a faithful usher. Kenny was an outdoorsman who could build, landscape, repair, fix, and refurbish most things from a VCR (which most of this generation knows nothing about) to carpentry work that could include replacing floors and building decks. He was a hard worker. He would help anyone that he had the power to help.

Kenny loved to fish, and he was a true fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He was an all-around good man. Kenny was a good father, brother and friend. He was a great husband, awesome listener, mentor, advisor and unofficial comedian. Kenny knew how to lighten a room and put a smile on your face. He was a gentle giant. He was a father figure to many and a papa
to his grandchildren.

Kenny was employed with Perdue Farms of Lewiston, Georgia Pacific of Ahoskie and Structural Coating of Winton, for a number of years, before he went out on medical leave awaiting a kidney transplant. Kenny was blessed to receive a kidney transplant in January 2020. He began working with the Northampton County Detention Center in Jackson on February 1, 2023.

On Thursday, March 9, 2023, while in the care of ECU Health Roanoke Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie, North Carolina, Kenny took off his earthly body and put on his heavenly body. In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by: wife, Cora Campbell Harmon; son, Lamont Harmon; brother, Lynvett Harmon; niece, Trin Fennell; sisters-at-heart, Phyllis and Linda Moore.

Kenny leaves to cherish many wonderful memories: his wife, Linda Turner Harmon of the home: his children, JP Jordan of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Steve Lassiter of Murfreesboro, North Carolina, George Campbell of Raleigh, North Carolina, Antonio Campbell of South Carolina, children-at-heart, Craig Turner and Christopher Turner both of Conway, North Carolina and Simene’ Walden of Brentwood, Maryland; a host of grandchildren, whom he cherished; his parents-at-heart, Norfleet and Katie Futrell Fennel of Murfreesboro, North Carolina; siblings, Felicia Barrett (Reginald) of Athens, Georgia, Jeffrey Jordan (Anne) of Cofield, North Carolina, Linda Jordan Turner of Winston Salem, North Carolina, Clinton Harmon of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Alvin Harmon (Mary) of Potecasi, North Carolina and Latosha Jordan of Baltimore, Maryland; sisters and brothers-at-heart, Arlene Moore of Ahoskie, North Carolina, Cathy Speight of Union, North Carolina, Frank Moore of Aulander, North Carolina, Betty Wilson (Charles) and James Moore, both of Ahoskie, North Carolina; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley Harmon of Suffolk, Virginia, Terry Turner of Pendleton, North Carolina, Timothy Turner of Conway, North Carolina, Curtis Turner of Greenville, North Carolina, Sandra McNeil (Ernest) of Clayton, North Carolina, Shelia Turner of East Point, Georgia, Debbie Grant (Michael) of Fairburn, Georgia, Marilyn Harris (Clarence) and Dorothy Riddick all of Murfreesboro, North Carolina, Willis Wood, Jr. (Genora) and Darlene Deloatch (Lionel) all of Mapelton, North Carolina, Wilson Johnson of Orlando, Florida, Elliott Johnson of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Mary Olivia Long of Margarettsville, North Carolina, and Alda Mae Woods of Ahoskie, North Carolina; a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews by blood, marriage and association connections.
