Leo 'June Bug' Forrest Obituary

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted…

All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.

~ Ecclesiates 3:1, 2, 20

A TIME TO LIVE:

Leo Rollins Forrest, the eldest of eight children, born to the parentage of the late Leon Rollins and Erma Forrest Robinson, began his journey through life on Monday, July 5, 1943, in Suffolk, Virginia. He soon made his way to North Carolina, where he was educated in the Northampton County School System. The value of hard work was instilled in Leo at an early age. Throughout his life, he held various jobs to provide for himself and his family; including farmer, custodian and elevator operator.

‘June Bug’ or ‘Junie Bee’, as he was affectionately called, was a loving and caring person. He was very free-spirited and loved his family dearly. His brother and sisters, whom he never called by name - instead referred to them as ‘Bro’ and ‘Sis’, were his heart! Spending quality time with his family and close friends, brought him much joy. Oft times you could find him out on the water fishing - being in the natural environment was one of his favorite pastimes. The natural bliss of life was the sweetest to him! The life of Leo was centered around love, humor and care for others.

A TIME TO DIE:

Leon Rollins Forrest, was summoned home to eternal rest and peace on Sunday, June 28, 2020; while in the care of Rich Square Manor, Rich Square, North Carolina. As he transitioned from our care and into God’s keeping, he now resides safe in the arms of Jesus and we can hear his spirit utter these words: “Don’t cry for me, I’m not gone. My soul is at rest, my heart lives own, Light a candle for me to see and hold on my memory, but save your tears for I’m still here by your side through the years.”

A TIME TO REMEMBER:

We who remain are struck by the pain of death, but satisfied with the promise made by God, that He would wipe all tears from our eyes are: his sisters and brother, Mary Frances Gray, Margaret Jordan and Alice Panell all of Seaboard, North Carolina, Evelyn Sills (Randy) of Winton, North Carolina, Toni Mason (Melvin) of Margarettsville, North Carolina and Webster Robinson of Woodland, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
