Remembering Lewis...
To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance…
~ Ecclesiastes 3:1-4
A TIME TO BE BORN:
On Saturday, December 29, 1951, this earth was blessed with the birth of Lewis Martin Banks, Sr.. He was born to the parentage of the late Fleetwood Banks and Dorothy Chambliss in Halifax County, North Carolina. He received his formal education in the Northampton County Public School System.
A TIME TO LIVE:
After some time in Northampton County, Lewis decided to spread his wings in search of better opportunities, by moving to New York. Later in life he relocated to Emporia, Virginia and if he was not spending time with family, you could find him watching some of his favorite TV shows and solving crossword puzzles - these were some of his favorite pastimes.
A TIME TO DIE:
Life is but a stopping place, A pause in what’s to be, A resting place along the road, to sweet eternity. We all have different journeys, Different paths along the way, We all were meant to learn some things, but never meant to stay… Our destination is a place, Far greater than we know. For some the journey is quicker, For some the journey’s slow. And when the journey finally ends, We’ll claim a great reward, And find an everlasting peace, Together with the Lord. On Sunday, July 25, 2021, our dear loved one peacefully entered into an eternal rest; while in the comfort of his home. He now reunites with all his friends and loved ones who have preceded him in death; including his grandson, Fredrick Lee; his sister, Dorothy Marie High; his brothers, Richard McCoy Banks and Frank Chambliss.
A TIME TO REMEMBER:
Memories are treasures no one can steal, Death is the heartache nothing can heal. Some may forget you now that you are gone, But we shall remember you no matter how long. We who remain and shall never forget your love: daughters, Bettie Simmons (William) of Richmond, Virginia, Nichole Lee of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Andria Banks and Monique Singleton both of Gaston, North Carolina, La’Toya Warren of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Sherlene Carrington of Temple Hills, Maryland; son, Lewis Banks, Jr. (Chouvon) of Garysburg, North Carolina; sister, Arletha Rooks of Garysburg, North Carolina; fifteen grandchildren; Shante Simmons and Kelvin Simmons both of Richmond, Virginia, Jasmine Carrington, Stephanie Carrington, Michael Patterson, Jr. all of Temple Hills, Maryland, Amir Jones, DeVaughn Crisp and Christian Singleton all of Gaston, North Carolina, Darell Lee, Demonte Lee, Jamar Banks, Cedric Banks, Quintin Jackson, Xavier Jackson, Josiah Jackson all of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; seven great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
